My Uber driver picked up someone else.
We went to the Seahawks game last night and decided to park at a friends and Uber in to the game.
I was watching my driver get closer, and then as he was a minute away he seemed to stop. The Uber app said he arrived, and then the map showed him heading towards the stadium. It took me a bit to figure out what was going on, but I realized he must have picked someone else up that was going to the game. I've only used Uber a few times, and have never had any issues. But for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to cancel a ride or contact the driver while the app thought I was already in the car and in route. I found the 'add a stop' option, so I reentered our location in hopes the driver would realize his error. No luck... My wife got us a Lyft, and through the Uber app I watched 'my' car go to the stadium, and then on to the airport. At that time the driver ended my trip. Total bill, $89.17! I lodged a complaint online with the following response: "We reviewed your trip, and it appears the pickup and drop off locations match those that were entered when this trip was requested. Because of this, we're unable to provide any adjustment or refund for this trip. " Riiight, someone took the trip, it just wasn't me... Today I was able to get a resolution, and a refund is supposed to be issued, but what a hassle. We missed most of the 1st quarter and someone got a free ride. Anyone else have anything like this happen? |
Just how far was the trip supposed to be to cost $90 ?
|
I had the same thing happen, also returning from a Seahawks game. After it was posted, I went back in the app, found the support thing and selected 'someone else took this ride' and got credited back a day later.
The worst part was that while the ride was in progress I couldn't get another. |

Seems the satnav that Uber use isn't very accurate.I request d a ride from one side of the railroad terminus when I had a bad leg.Driver went to other side of station, hundreds of yards away and charged me for a no show . I resolved the issue with Uber the next day.but was stuck without a ride ( caught a bus).

I thought I was being smart by not paying the $50 to park right by the stadium.
But $20 each way, plus the time to catch the ride ate that up pretty quickly. |
That sucks.
Just as it lets pax know the driver details (car type/license plate/etc.), it should also let the driver know the pax details. Maybe a short confirmation code that the driver can request/confirm when the pax gets in to confirm it's them? |
Next time pay your friend $25 to drive you to the game.

I had something similar. Uber did finally agree, but the “refund” was a credit to my Uber account and not a reversal to the charge on my credit card. At that point I didn’t have the energy to keep fighting and I’ve since used the credit, but it left me feeling the company is more than a little slimy.

you don't need much energy and don't have to fight Uber - just dispute the charge on your credit card & let them fight Uber

I've come to realize that I will either pay to park in the stadium lots, or expect to walk a ways away before catching a ride. With the way they shut down streets, it doesn't make sense to uber from the stadium.
We've had to request refunds on quite a few uber rides for issues like yours... everything from slow drivers to missed turns off freeways to failing to end the ride. After a concert in Oakland last year, our Uber driver picked up another couple with Lyft on another phone at the same time (in his tiny car). Guy didn't speak any english, and just grinned in the mirror whenever we brought up the issue. We didn't want to cancel and have to wait for another ride to get back to SF, so we suffered the tight quarters and filed a complaint after we arrived (as did the other couple). Got a refund for it, so the idiot didn't get paid anything for the trip. Another horrible place for uber is Seatac (Both the city and airport). Uber drivers have to stage in the waiting lot for hours at a time, and will usually cancel your fare if they see that you have a short trip. |
Thanks for taking care of my ride. Go hawks.:D:D

Uber and AirBnB. They decide and stop communications with you if it doesn't suit them.

I hate Uber as a company but like the service and the workers. I've used them in more cities than I can remember and also in Europe w zero issues. It's incredibly convenient to push a couple buttons on my phone and have a car and driver appear next to me, ready to take me wherever I say. |
Uber seems to be one of the most abusive companies in existence.
|
I think you can call the driver which I would do in this situation.

My uber driver picked me up and drove another guy off post as well. Hit me up for toll $$ while charging me it in the app. 2 am on post and getting to an airport 70 mins away. I didn't care. Some times you just have to say **** it.

I use Uber a lot when I'm in NYC, and have in San Diego, Philly and a few other places, its really convenient and at a lesser cost than car service or taxi.. Quote:
I work with a young man..who is in the Masters program at Colombia University for Mechanical Engineering. He drives for Uber and Lyft between classes on weekends, when he isn't helping in his parents Shwarma stand, or working part time for NYSDOT... He is a very smart driven young man.. And of course being a sample of one.. In the many ride shares I've used every "independent operator" has been, a clean car, and a driver that was at least semi-engaging |

Wouldn't the app know you're not in the car? It does use your GPS...
|
I wonder if the person that took your Uber ride even know they were in the wrong car. The fault is probably with the GPS that Uber uses.
I've had similar experiences in a less serious way with Noah's Bagels. Some dick head picks up my order and takes off with it. There's probably some sloppy mistakes and I think there's some genuine food theft. Annoying to find out minutes later that your order is gone and has to be remade. Now I place my orders with my last name instead and that seems to cut down on the problem a lot. |

I've had several that were really good, whether they just drove me to where I was going with minimal chit chat in a clean vehicle or they were actually chatty. I've had a couple of old retired guys that were great. I've had a young kid that was super chatty but interesting and good, and several others that just got me where I needed to be in a clean car. I don't remember having any bad experiences. |

The driver should be notified if their location and the customers don't match while the ride is in progress. |
