Comments are pretty funny-
"I wonder how the owner felt that his error was being this well documented. LOL. Glad it wasn't me. The only thing that keeps me looking smart is the carefully managed lack of evidence to the contrary"

2 things.

• Seems like a REALLY BIG trailer to try and take on a road like that with a truck like that. I don't want to call the guy out, but he was pretty brave to try... (and 'brave' is often used as a euphemism during events like this....)
• I don't know how much a tow like that costs, but 500 bucks would have been a cheap price to pay to get out of that mess.

I've had many vehicles and many years experience driving on sand beaches

An F250 PSD is my last choice to do that....

That guy apparently thought he could... but had zero experience.. unless of course This is part of the tow companies add campaign

Maybe camp closer to civilization and ride the stuff in the hauler on the trails...unless he sees Breaking Bad as a documentary.

Eh, hard pack dirt that you can run on can look the same as no pack; right up until you are stuck in it.

Different day with different past weather events and maybe he'd of been fine.

My two PSD trucks are both very nose heavy with the weighty diesel motors, Even with an equal amount of weight on the 5th wheel hitch, that is WAY too much rig to go off road like that in soft sand.

The truck is 7500#, and the toy hauler (empty) is probably another 12,000#.

I spent years going to Glamis with multiple fords, 7.3 non diesel, power stroke, 6.0 Diesel. Always 4x4, always with a big trailer. NEVER got stuck. I was always the guy to be asked to move off of the gravel pad into the sand so other idiots with lowered Chevy Duallys could park close to the asphalt. After a weekend of the idiots making fun of Fords I was humbly asked to tow their sand squeegees out. I have pics of my truck pulling a Chevy 3500 dually with a 40 ft5th wheel out of the sanding reverse while pushing my 28 ft Weekend Warrior. sand and desert is about experience and the idiot factor is high.

Watching toy haulers in deep sand is almost as much fun as boat launch fails.

What sort of tires are on that F250? They look like bald street to me? Not saying it would have resolved the situation, big truck, big trailer, in sand... Proper tires, aired down, prior to getting the axle on sand, might have been the winning ticket. That and gentle use of go pedal to keep momentum and curb wheel spin. But what do i know... Then again i agree with the previous post where the tow guy says follow the line and the result was opposite. Stupidity.

The skinny tires digging deep on the toy hauler, with twice the truck's weight bearing down on them, are an even match for the wide (properly inflated) aggressive tires on the truck.

These young guys with the toy haulers are always entertaining to watch. On the Interstate, they're the ones traveling at 85MPH tailgating and weaving in and out of traffic. They're almost always overloaded and usually have some sort of aftermarket wheel-tire-suspension combo not designed for towing. I wonder how many welds he snapped on his cheap-ass Lippert frame during that little stunt?

So, I had to know what the heck that guy had under that Jeep body. It's here.
It looked like he hooked to the Ford's factory recovery hooks, which are frame mounted. The bumper fits over and around them. You could hoist the truck to Mars w those.

The tow dude is no dummy. The other guy seemed pretty clueless in the art of driving/towing. Maybe he's good at something else in life, we can hope.

If not one of the vehicles, the chain would have been a menacing weapon as it broke.

His rope has a bit of a stretch factor that becomes rather solid after the initial take up. This guy knows his siht. And he's cool about it. I hope he gets $500 a yank — he deserves it.

Basic snap-strap stuff, I thought everyone knew about these. Anyway, they work great and are not as hard on the vehicles as you might think due to the buffering effect.

One no-no is attaching it to a ball (which I thought he did at first then I noticed his proper setup). The balls can snap off and become missiles.
