RIP Chuck Stoddard

Just heard that Chuck Stoddard passed away. He was the technical advisor to the PCA back in the 70s when he had his dealership. Hope he enjoyed his ride.

He was a super guy, and a walking computer of Porsche knowledge.

I remember he and Bruce Anderson sitting in a room doing questions and answers for hours on end at War Bonnet Tech. Ah, the good ol days.

RIP Chuck.

That is really sad to hear, RIP Chuck. I sometimes wonder if the golden era of proper air cooled 911s is coming to end. With his passing, the more I think it is.

Chuck was a walking encyclopedia of Porsche. RIP.

Saddens me to hear this. Another sign of the passing of an era...

He brought a 914-6 with mild but very thoughtful mods to the 1975 parade. I enjoyed chatting with him about it. I wonder if the car still exists..

I remember those days well. He will be missed.

He had about the most original 917 coupe I’ve ever seen. I wonder what happened to it...

I think the dealership was the only or one of the few that were owned by the factory. Also, if you had a color change, given it was a factory dealership, it was considered, or much closer to being considered, factory.

This is just hearsay as I never met Chuck and can't quote a definitive source aside from "dudes" that were talking.

I know Ed Mayo would know and several guys here as well, whether or not I am blowing smoke.

RIP Chuck Stoddard.

These are a couple of rare photos of Chuck's private garage at his home. Equipped like a small dealership shop
