2020 R&R hall of fame nominations
I'm hoping they induct the Doobie bros and Pat Benatar, but more likely it will be Whitney the druggie and nefarious s.m.a.l.l.
Maybe they'll throw us a bone with sound garden. Oh boy. They already said no thanks to Todd Rundgren. They've shown us every year, the rock and roll hall of fame is not about rock and roll. https://www.oann.com/whitney-houston-notorious-b-i-g-among-nominees-for-rock-hall-of-fame/ |
Did they ever induct Neil Sedaka? If not, another well deserving one.
(edit) Looked it up. Sedaka not on the list. A shame. |

Been a fan of Todd for a long time. His bio is pretty unbelievable. He's been involved with a lot of people's work.

Get your votes in! Lets hope Judas Priest finally makes it in.

Big fan of Todd. Saw Utopia in 1976 at the OKC Civic Center. He has quite a resume
|
That’s easy, Todd, Thin Lizzy, Doobie Bro’s.
|
Whitney Houston but still no motorhead. Pathetic.
|
Wait, Rundgren is not in the RR hall of fame, really?
|
Whitney Houston was a great singer but definitely not R&R by any stretch. What a weird museum...they should call it the Museum of Pop Music or something.

Well, its not like they inducted ABBA. Oh, wait, they did? How does commercially processed Velveeta pop chart pablum make it in? :(
Where is Warren Zevon or Graham Parker? Both are far more worthy. The Hall has become a reflection of $$$ rather than innovation that shaped Rock's history. |

LaVern Baker Little Willie John Lloyd Price Gene Vincent Solomon Burke Leonard Cohen Bobby Womack Jimmy Cliff Laura Nyro Nina Simone I didn't include inductees from some of the other categories as they tend to get a little obscure. The R&R HOF started off reasonable for the first couple of years but quickly devolved into a PC committee where each member had a different agenda, and it was rarely related to real rock and roll. Hall of FAME should be a hall of ...famous rock and roll people. Not people who most folks have never heard of, not people who have nothing to do with rock and roll, not people who were innovative or somehow contributed behind the scenes. Fame. if not, they should call it something else. Like the "Western culture hall of people we chose because we're pompous PC faux-intellectuals using it as a tool to advance a political or social wish-list". Kinda catchy after you hear it a couple times. PS: Foreigner, Steppenwolf, Steve Winwood and REO are also not inducted. AFAIK Foreigner and REO haven't even been nominated. sinful. And don't get me started on Gram Parsons ......... ;) |

Perhaps an unpopular position but....who cares? Another award event for, by and about elitist, pampered, over-compensated celebrities.

Second part - PC? That's laughable. Here's a really PC inductee: Quote:

Never suggested the inductees were PC.
I said the people who run the HOF and decide who gets voted on for induction are biased by PC quotas and special interests, which partially explains why so many people who have nothing to do with rock and roll are in the rock and roll hall of fame. Wouldn't want to O'FFEND anyone by leaving them out, no sir Or maybe I'm way off. Maybe you can explain why the gangsta rappers you mentioned are in the rock and roll hall of fame, and that it has nothing to do with appeasing special interest groups. |

I was involved in an industry awards program for several years. You had to pay to nominate someone. The whole awards program was primarily operated for the benefit of the organizer. it didn’t matter to him who bombed musically as long as enough people showed up at the awards banquet. He probably go $20 off the top of each meal.
