Identify this thing

We found this thing in our condo. It’s made of oak, the nails that edge PNC through the base and the price of sheet metal that is screwed on the cross piece are all brass. It also has hole in the base to allow it to hang. What is it? We can’t figure it out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571527832.jpg

The thing is about a foot long and three and a half inches wide and an inch and a half high

Home made corn cutter. My mom had one. She was fancy. She got it from a factory somewhere.

No kidding!!?

Do you use it before or after cooking the corn?

herr_oberst 10-19-2019 03:43 PM

Before. It's used to prepare creamed corn for freezing. At least at our house it was

Yep. I have a plastic one. The nails rip the kernels open and the blade cuts them off the cob.

Edit:
After looking at the blade, I think the nails rip the kernels open and the dull blade mounted perpendicular to the corn cob just scrapes the innards out of the corn kernel.

Now I thought it was a BDSM device for holding dick.

We have a plastic one that slides down the corn to remove the kernels whole. Just takes a few seconds.

Why would you want to rip them open and then cut them off?

That’s how you get “creamed corn.” When I freeze corn I cut the kernels off whole. I think they call it “niblets”.

It’s used for getting the knots out of a fluffy cats belly .
I have one and it’s great .
Last year I got excited by an online pop-up commercial and rushed out to petco and spent $30.00 to buy a fur-minator , but it’s nowhere near as good as old aunt mabel’s bald-patch maker .
