Dolomite is my name

New Eddie Murphy flick about Rudy Ray Moore on netflix. Rudy Ray Moore created this persona, Dolomite. Movie dedicated to his brother. I liked it, maybe a poll

Charlie Murphy was a very engaging story teller, he did this bit, where he tells the story of Dolomite. This is a not safe for work, plenty of profane language.

I'll watch it, I enjoyed his interview on Kimmel and the description of the movie.

I can't vote. Never heard of it. Before this thread. Listened to the skit above, if that is it, not interested.

Good to see Eddie back at it. Good movie

Rudy Ray Moore inspired a lot of black entertainers.

This clip also NSFW

Seems like a safe bet. Is it funny ?

masraum 10-28-2019 03:39 AM

I'd never heard of it until this thread, and couldn't tell what it was about until the trailer. It looks like it could be entertaining.

A few nights ago Eddie Murphy was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It sounded interesting to say the least, and probably more entertaining than the reality it was.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert - go to approx. 9 minute mark

Yes it was funny, to me anyway.

Interesting characters, an engaging story about a guy who had some fairly profound impacts on African American culture.

I thought it was funny, but I like that kind of crap. I don't think they could have wedged another MF in it.
I remember my sister sneaking x rated Richard Pryor albums in the house, and my mom went nuts.

I keep forgetting Charlie passed away,I loved his comedy, he is an amazing story teller and man he had stories to tell.

I was listening to Howard Stern a week or two ago, Snoop was on there and talking about this movie. He and Howard both knew who Dolomite was, Howard, having grown up in Roosevelt LI, knows all things black culture. I remember hearing the name, growing up poor white bread I had no idea who it was.

If I am seeing correctly it is on Netflix, going to try to catch it this weekend.

It was reviewed well by a source I trust, so I will be checking it out in the next few days

I voted not interested before I watched it.
Found it on Netflix.

Good movie, really enjoyed it.
Didn’t know it was based on real events, so the ending was a surprise.
Would recommend!

(I love Eddy Murphy as an actor too)

Wife and I watched it and now realize how this passed by us white folk.

It was released in 1975 we were wee kids back then.

Fun movie, makes us want to see the 1975 Movie for laughs.

Wesley Snipes was great in it too.
