Bottom of Foot Pain

I've pretty much had very good feet my whole life. Around 9 yrs old, there was some pain when I began playing a LOT of baseball. All good since then.
I've ran for exercise all along. However, I've been very lazy for the last year or so.
Minimal running, and as a result I've added some el bees.

About a month ago, I was wearing flip flops and sitting at a bar. I put the ball of my left foot on the foot-rail to adjust my seat.

It felt like there was a small bundle drinking straws running longitudinally inside my foot and they were rolling over each other. Very sharp pain, but it only lasted a few seconds.

Then all felt mostly normal. Minor residual tingling that dissipated with a minute or two.

Next day all felt normal. About a week later I was driving my Subie and while shifting gears my left foot began to ache. Did not feel like straws, though.

Last couple weeks it hasn't hurt, but I can tell it's there,

I presume it's my plantar fascia having some problems.

What do you reckon, Doc?

Stay hydrated. Use a rolling pin under the desk to exercise. Shoe cushion inserts. Stretching. Massage. Vitamins. etc

There may be knee/leg/hip weakness that is causing too much foot effort.
The whole body may be kinked.

Consciously stay balanced and as an upright stalk when walking.
If not equal, fix it with repeat efforts.
It will be a long-term fix and take time.
New muscles will briefly hurt when reactivated.

Get your blood sugar levels checked. I don't want to jinx you but type 2 diabetes can sneak up on you with little warning.

Hopefully Tobra chimes in soon.

Davis family genetics. Right foot acted up yesterday on me. Hurt like a sob even in bed and wrapped. All good today. Some times we have to stop putting a foot in arses.

I have a similar issue, pain at the bottom, sometimes pretty damn bad but there most of the day. So far ice has no impact.

We have a foot doctor here on Pelican, but you may be among the thousand or so folks on his ignore list. Don't worry, though--even if you are, he'll check in.

I wear Scholl https://www.drscholls.com/ shoe liners in all my shoes and boots. and it really does make a lot of problems "just go away." My work days lasted as long as my feet dictated LOL

Sure, there may be a problem, but at the end of the day you just want the symptoms to go away. Cheap and worth a try.

You and Don are getting "up there" at the same rate! The doc don't wanna tell ya the truth so he's awol .

I hopped on the Dr Scholl's thingy and tried the $50 inserts it suggested about 5 yrs ago. They work for me....YMMV.

Had the same or similar problem a couple years back, a sharp pain in the ball of my feet. Seemed worse at night if I woke up and had to head to the washroom in the night I would make my way on my hands and knees because because it was to painful to walk. I blamed it on walking on hardwood floors in my bare feet.
Any way I bought myself a pair of D.R. Scholl’s leather slippers and the souls were like a jell insert nice and soft. Wore them religiously and it just went away and never came back.

Morton's neuroma, I probably know a guy who is local to you, will check and see.

Lose the flip flops, wear real shoes, not tight ones. Nerve getting pinched between two metatarsals, the ligament that connects them and the ground.

Thanks a bunch!
Moron's neuroma, hmm.
As a kid, I could never wear flip flops. Couldn't stand those things between my toes. Just in the last 15 yrs or so I've had some cheapies to wear at the pool, but rarely wear them anyplace else. Then in 2014 I found some called Olukai. I'm on my second pair. They fit very well and the between toes thing is minimal. I'll put them away and only use at the pool.

For running shoes, when I was in my early 20's I went to a running shoe place and discussed my foot type so I would have the proper equipment. My foot is sort of wide, so Nikes were out. Found ASICS and mostly used that brand over the years. About 12 years ago I went to Road Runner Sports and told them nothing of my running or the shoes I'd been using. Went through their running evaluation and found I have a neutral strike and very good ankle stability. I'd been using the proper shoes all along.

I'm about 15-20 el bees up from 2017. I reckon it's time to get back at the fitness thing.
And I don't mean "fitness pizza in my mouth".

Welcome to my world.
Started with my insteps caving in. Then plantar fascia. Then knee problems that also effected my foot.
I'm the same age as you. I guess 55 years of wearing cheap shoes is catching up.

I saw my "foot guy" yesterday for new orthotics.
What killed it was 3 10 hour days standing in a bass boat.
