First, you should not let it get to the stage of loaded w burnt wax, (what are you using it for)?
![]() They are for cutting only and the proper way to maintain one is to spin it slowly while putting the dull end of a tool up and down the pad, (think record player), and wash w water and mild soap when needed. I use an outdoor hose and some car wash soap, work it in w fingers and rinse completely. Then let it air dry, either outside if you’re in the warm SW or inside in a heated room if you’re in the miserable part of the country. ![]() I assume that you’re joking about the DW or washing machine. No one is that dumb, right? ![]() |

TSP solution maybe in a five gallon bucket like the product below? Never have done that though. Never had to. The record player cleaning trick and just water.

Once clean, you can blow them out with compressed air periodically when using to keep them from loading up, and after use to clean/dry (same "record player" method). Of course, that requires an air compressor.

80 or 100 or 120 grit sand paper while it’s spinning. That’s how I clean my buffing wheels (cotton) that I use on the lathe.
