I get up earlier than when I "worked" with a "to do" list that just gets longer....make a couple of brilliant posts that no one GAF about....then exhausted, I usually just call it a day :)

The journey IS the prize...it's your journey....you'll figure it out ...just like you always have imo ;)

My youngest grandson (8) handed me a picture of me after he had been here about a week. Pretty accurate...eat, sleep, golf and fish! One of my golf buddies says "he's retired...nothing to do and all day to do it!"

I'm in a similar circumstance, but i don't get to work on my cars much. We bought this 5 acres (our "ranch") a few months after I retired. It didn't need anything, but we wanted to make some changes. It will be two years in January and not a day goes by that I don't spend at least 4 hours building or repairing. I'm beginning to hate it.
My typical day - up at 5 to feed the dogs. Have breakfast and lay around, maybe nap, until 7 or 8. Do my PT exercises and take a dip in the spa. Dress and work on the ranch for a while. Lunch, rest for an hour, back at it. Try to fit in some time to work on building out a shop so I can work on my cars, but mostly it's the house and grounds that take up my time. By 3:00 I'm in so much pain I'm done for the day. Arthritis doesn't only hurt, it sucks the energy right out of you. I'm in bed by 8 but don't get to sleep until midnight some nights.

Things I wanted to do:
Improve my photography - I haven't gotten the Nikon out and taken pictures just for the fun of it in over a year. I need a clear mind to be creative, too much pressure now.
Practice guitar - arthritis in my left hand hurts like hell when I play
Various art projects - same as photography
Work on my cars - Now and then I say "screw it" and do a car project, but not as often as I want
Fix up the new place - doing it every day
Grow my own food - got the garden and orchard going pretty well. Haven't raised any meat yet

Our health went to hell the year we moved. Until I hit 68 I could go years without seeing a doc for anything but routine checkups. In the past two years I've had 4 surgeries and MrsWD has had two. One or the other of us is going to a doctor at least once a week, and we go together so half a day out of every week is shot right there. It's very discouraging. Health issues is the biggest impediment to enjoying retirement. Have fun while you can folks.

I can't fish and golf and lay around. That would be torture for me. I love to build things, make things, fix things. But these days I don't get much of a choice what I'm going to work on. Most days I hew to the demands of this ranch project I took on until I'm worn out for the day. Then I sit around and dream about what I thought retirement was going to be.

Been retired for 4 years now and still in my late 50's. These are my golden years. Wife is a little older and retired too. Just made her trike-cycle electric and assembling a fat tire electric bike for me. No fighting the BS grind. My only concern is for my daughter/son in law and their future.

I am not really retired, but just own the company so I am the boss. The bosses wife comes in my office all summer and wants me to help in the garden, or wash the car, and sometimes I play in the garage on my cars.

I do some real work projects, but often they are set up the computer, and let it run for days on end on a part of a project. I have three computers here, so the fastest one works, the other one lets me surf Pelican or other sites.

My commute to work is 14 steps down the hall after kissing my wife "and off to work" down the hall. Sometimes I go meet with clients, or have to run to the airport and spend time there and even go flying in our Cessna 182 for some projects.

It is a tough job, and more like a hobby that pays me fairly well. Just doing the book work is several hours of work per week.

I bought a ticket for Ford v Ferrari. I'm going on Monday at noon because I can.

The only way I know what day of the week it is: My wife goes to Bingo on Monday. So, if that was 3 days ago, it's Thursday.......True story....

You pay that much attention to your wife’s activities? I retired from that, too! ;)

My biggest thing to remember is what day the trash has to go out.

Retired about 18 months, I went to Disneyland today (I get in for free with 3 more people, being a retiree), what a suck a$$ journey from Santa Clarita, like 70 miles, 1.5 hours or more each way.

I used to do that crap all the time. I've put about 3,000 miles on my 08 Camry Hybrid in 18 months. I used to do 10x that

Last night watched a youtube of an old Efren Reyes match from 2004, when he was in his prime. Who's Efren Reyes? Possibly the greatest rotation pool player of all time..with the well deserved nickname of "The Magician". Turned in about an hour past midnight.

Up at 9:00..surfed here and another car guy site or two for a couple of hours, drinking coffee. Also to the garage to check oil level & clean windshield of the Mustang. After a leisurely shower got dressed, took my bride to brunch at a place we like for the senior omelet special.

The 40 miles North up I-5 to Salem's Cue Ball...chatting with Jim, the owner a bit as we picked up a tray of balls, then to our favorite Brunswick Anniversary table...the one in back with the bucket pockets, so we don't bother the serious guys who gamble on the snooker table every Thursday afternoon. We being strictly recreational bangers...chatted with other regulars and a young couple obviously there on a date. I urged her to come back when her boyfriend wasn't there and to ask Carlos, the counter guy for a few hours of lessons. If she did that, she'd be beating her boyfriend in no time.

Later, my honorary nephew Matt came in when he got off work. He really came to watch the Browns/Steelers game. Had money on the Steelers beating the 12 1/2 points spread being given by the state lottery...yeah, this lefty state is now a bookie!
Matt has a gambling problem, but the most gambling addicted here is the state itself..

When the game was on, long time PCA buddy Marty came in...we shared a condo at the '71 Parade, so yes, we're both older than dirt now. Marty 79, a few years older than me. He still manages his 32 residential rentals. All are paid for, have been for decades. I keep urging him to sell and enjoy the years he has left...But so far, it's obviously what he enjoys. His life. So, the 3 of us strolled down State Street to a BBQ joint near the Willamette U campus. Had a good sandwitch, salad, & iced tea.
Then back to the pool hall, picked up our case from behind the counter, chatted a bit with Carlos & Matt, said goodbye to Marty, and pointed the Mustang south. Stopped at a Chevron station that sells 92 octane "clear" (no alcohol) premium, topped off the Mustang...think $4.20 per gallon.

Drove another 12 miles, pulled the Mustang into the garage...watched boxing on TV, (missed the football game fight) then surfed pool and car guy boards...Let's see, almost midnight as I type. Will probably turn in 30-45 minutes from now.

Did absolutely nothing productive all day. Retirement is great!
