Sold my airplane

After the incident with the exhaust manifold I decided to sell my plane. It scared the wife to death, she was a nervous flyer as is. I’ve been thinking about it some before this happened. I’ve been flying a little less each year and the cost are pretty high.

I was surprised on how quickly I had buyers lined up. I posted a for sale ad, and had buyers lined up within hours.

Once I get money in hand I’ll be seriously looking for a boat to ease the pain. I see a 25’ or so center consol in my near future.

Good luck with the sale. If you had buyers within hours, maybe you are asking too little? Anyway, hope the boat purchase goes well. Make sure the boat is as sea worthy as an airplane is air worthy. And most of all, the wife is in agreement.

BTW, how did the fitment of the new manifold go?

No problem. I kind of follow prices a little. I priced it to sell, but still fair for me.

All he manifold took was a little time and money. The center section can move a little.

And I’m in no hurry to buy a boat. We were planning to move and buy a house with gulf access before this happened. So I was buying a boat before I decided to sell the plane.

DC, this happens a lot more than folks think. Small planes are an acquired taste many folks never get truly comfortable with. You are doing the right thing.

I take full advantage of this and hitch rides all the time!

Again, you handled the inflight anomaly very well: aviate, navigate, communicate.

All the best.

Buying a house with Gulf access is our plan too. It’s been hard to get real life advice from our location. Would you mind sharing some of your search and how you narrowed it down to the community and location you chose?

That’s a beautiful plane, by the way. I always wanted to fly but a mans got to know his limitations. I would not be a good pilot, so I keep my feet on the ground or leave flying to those who can. I think you’re smart for ending it quickly and completely when you no longer felt 100%.

That is one sweet Debbie. I had a 1958 model J-35 "V" tail but after installing a new engine, I couldn't afford to operate it any more. I sold the Bonanza and bought a sweet little 1965 "E" model Cessna 150. I went from this. Here's before and after.

I must have missed the post on the exhaust. Looks like a section blew out. In flight? I could see that being of concern to the wife.

I would get a 150/152 in a heartbeat, but one of the two kids would kill me for getting a 2 seater, the kid that got left behind.

Myself as well (because I just can't do "me too" anymore).

Is there a link to that thread.

That looks like it would have been "interesting" to experience. I'd love to read the thread.

I would have thought a hole like that would have made a hell of a racket, but then I guess planes aren't exactly burdened by lots of exhaust and muffler.

Well my hearing is not the best, and the headsets muffle quite a bit. I’m sure it sounded quite loud to the wife.

Was a beautiful plane, sorry to see it go!

I won't tell you about the time we were in the ocean with the kids and the outboard wouldn't start.
