Can anyone ID these two items?

Found these two small items in my step-dad's old tool box.

Any ideas on what they are?

Thanks! SmileWavy

First one is a metal stud finder

First one is a stud-finder.
Second one looks like some sort of tap/die tool.

Valve stem tool. I think it is a tap and die for repairing valve stems and caps.

Last one is a Schrader tire valve tool. I have one.
The tap is to rethread the inside of the valve stem so the valve can be screwed in. The die is to rethread the outside of the valve stem so the cap can be screwed on. The forked end is to screw the valve into the valve stem and remove it. The pointy end is to remove broken valves. The tool is a holdover from the days the Schrader valve was all metal and rebuildable, as opposed to today’s disposable valves. I’ve never used mine for anything but removing and installing the valve.

To be more specific about the VS tool, it is a tap and die as well as a stem reamer. Not all VS tools do the 4-way thing.

The stud finder is really a metal finder which aids in finding studs, but also locating hidden metal objects like broken nails before sawing or planing wood.

OK thanks, Milt - you answered my questions. SmileWavy

Schrader valve tool.
Great for the tool box and can attach directly to your valve stem.
Removes Schrader valves, chases, valve threads and cleans inner valve stem.
Sold individually.

This is a different brand but demonstrates the purpose of the Stanley unit:

The threaded cone screws over the valve to clean up the valve-cap thread.

It is also very useful when you are replacing tires where an inner tube is used. You can hold the deflated tube by the valve when its through the hole in the wheel rim, otherwise the tube can get lost inside the tire when you are reseating the bead.
