Tell me about the 370 Z

Im lucky in that I get to drive a lot of cars. However, till this morning, I have never piloted one. Came in for a clutch . I am not a big fan of Nissan from this era, but still find it to be an interesting cheap sports car .
Not fast, but fast enough to be fun. handles well, and I actually like the way they look . Im sure it suffers all the same issues as all Nissan from that era . But probably pretty cheap to keep running over the long haul .
Any body have one ? Matt? didnt you own one years ago ?

I looked one over about a decade ago...much too small for me. I'd say 5'10" and under a good fit. Lots of blind spots to the rear. No driving impression..sorry. Didn't need a drive after that test fit...

Agreed, the view out the rear is terrible. I back cars onto 2 of my lifts, and it was difficult in this car . I liked the way it drove though, with the exception of all the wheel bearings letting out their last swan song .

I was always into the original Datsuns (Hence my screen name). None of the Datsun faithful was thrilled with the new 350Z back in 2001-2002. I have never driven one, but I do like the styling of the 370Z better, but still not enough to own one.

I know from talking to the NASA SpecZ guys it's hard to get the brake bias right on them for track use/racing. That's about all I can offer.

I owned a 350Z ('03) for many years; my daughter owns it now. It's a blast to drive, never had any issues with it, and I wholeheartedly disagree with the Paul's statement of needing to be 5'10 or less. I'm 6'1 and never felt cramped in it--didn't even need the seat ALL the way back (the convertibles are a different story, the roof was on my head).

Ever since giving it to my daughter a couple years back, I miss it like hell. Never felt that way about any of the other cars I've owned and replaced.

Not fast? I can personally state from experience, it goes to 160 very smoothly (and quickly).

I rented one for a week a few years back. I am 6'4" and never felt cramped. Of course, I was in the passenger seat. The lady with me refused to let me drive...

It was fast. She drove it like she stole it.

The 350Z and 370Z are almost always the top of everyone's list of "worst sports car". I think the V6 designed by Renault has a lot to do with it.

The fit thing...I was well into my 60's when sitting in that 370Z...probably already moving from performance to comfort in my automotive thinking. That was back in 2009. I distinctly remember hating the rear blind spots...the view in the mirror just a tiny slit directly to the rear. Seat all the way back, not enough legroom....I'm only 6'3"...or was then.

I was shopping around back then...still driving the '09 Bullitt Mustang I eventually selected. The Bullitt models got the leather seating from the GT500 of that year. Very comfortable and supportive.

don't forget the cushy "boulevardier" handling deficit

I never had one, I’ve considered them though. I should go drive one sometime, they are very affordable and do look good.

That Renault V6 is a good engine, certainly as good as anything made in the US.
