Wink Thanksgiving holiday 2019

Thought I'd start a Thanksgiving holiday thread for anyone who may be interested in posting something.

My two brothers will here for the holiday and we are spending the day with our 96 year old mother, who lives here in town.

My oldest brother lives in Virginia and hasn't been down here in quite a few years. He and his wife will be here for a whole week. My other brother lives in S. Florida and will only be here for the day.

I'm not really big on holiday stuff, to be honest, but if this makes Mom happy - I'm going to "cooperate" as much as possible.

I hope everyone here has a good holiday, including the many who are not as fortunate as ourselves.

Happy Holidays to you Baz, from now until the end of the "12 Days Of Christmas". We need a lot more love in this World, and I'm going to be celebrating all the way through.

I make a darn good turkey, and we will be having a heckuva meal on TG.

Then the magic happens, Christmas is our favorite time. I'm fetching all the boxes from the attic the day after and we enjoy decorating and celebrate all the way up until the day the "Fat Man" comes to town.

Enjoy your time with family Baz,and special hugs to Mom!

TG will be a quiet one this year. I'm taking the family up to Dallas to Mom and Dads for Christmas, it'll be a great time. Mom is off the charts happy since I skipped last year for the first time in 43 years.

What I enjoy most is family, feasting and bowling (football).

Enjoy the holidays everyone!

We usually get the biggest turkey we can find (for leftovers) that feeds about 10. My parents, and my inlaws will bethere along with my newly married daughter/SIL, and my son with possibly his new girl. Just a really laid back day on the farm with awesome food, and conversation, watch some football, take a nap in my chair.

There is alot of work involved preparing the food, and cleanup (my job), so my wife is showing my daughter/SIL her secret recipe for her brined turkey, and they will be fixing it this year.

This year it will be me and my wife going out for dinner . Youngest son is in Orlando and doing Thanksgiving with friends and co-workers . Oldest son and his family going out of town . So Sue and I are going to go see a movie , maybe do some shopping and then go to dinner . Just a nice quiet day for the two of us .

It will be crazy again this year. Out house will be filled with my siblings, MrsWD's daughter and son and their families, our crazy neighbor, and someone always brings along a stray or two (someone who won't be with family for whatever reason).
We talked about the menu and someone said, "Sandwiches!" I'm OK with that.
So I'm going to bake a couple dozen sandwich rolls. I'm going to infuse a pork loin with garlic and apple juice, marinate it in the same mixture, and smoke it and slice it thin. Also going to make a big pot of Italian beef. Otherwise it will be what you'd see at a 4th of July picnic.

Man, sure wonder what it takes to stay at your main house?

Sounds like a great gathering though! It is nice to have a large family and host. Make sure they wash their hands before eating them sandwiches!

We'll be going to KC to see my youngest daughter and her family. A big bird, stuffing, and maybe a fine cocktail or 2. Grandkids 3, and 9 months will be fun. This holiday is family time and I love it. I hope everyone on this board has the best and happiest few days. To those not so fortunate, I wish the best to you and pray everything works out better tomorrow.

Oh, the main house is just MrsWd and I enjoying our martinis while we watch everyone else in the out house.

This song has become an annual sing-along in our family - mostly because there is a drop of truth in it.

We sing a rousing rendition of the verse:

"God knows they're all dear to me
But if the truth be told
I like it when they come
and I love it when they go."

Happy Thanksgiving! I always post this on Facebook on Thanksgiving Day. It's sort of my Ode to Rankin/Bass specials (minus the cheese violence). Mrs. Missed Approach was a good sport with the black leather.

Thanks for this post and very entertaining vid, Jim & Kim!

That was VERY well done, production-wise.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.....and stay warm up there!!!

And as you enjoy this holiday, please take the time to view one of the only films dedicated to Thanksgiving. Of course I'm talking about "Planes, Trains And Automobiles".

Cinematic history right here with a great musical lead in by Miss Patsy Cline....

I literally think about that movie every single time I go to work because I fly/train/drive every time.. which in turn, makes me think of Groundhog day.... Another classic movie.. lol..
