For any of you aircraft junkies, the bird tied to the display stand is a Canadair Argus. An ASW aircraft flown by the Canadian Armed Forces through much of the cold war. Summerside used to be one of the Eastern Canadian bases which flew these long range patrol birds. Four turbo compound P&W engines with water injection on take off. A bit noisy.

What is the water bird in the first set?
Juvenile Kingfisher? |

The water bird is not a kingfisher. They are crested and dive into the water from the air. That is some sort of plover or sandpiper.
Paul The Argus went out of service around 1980, replaced as you say by the Canadian version of the P3. We called it the Aurora. In '89 - '91 we lived in the area near CFB Greenwood. We happened to be under the circuit for aircraft doing T&Gs The Argus used to rattle the dishes in the cupboard when it went over. The turbo prop engines on the Lockheed aircraft were much appreciated. Best Les |
