Phew, I'm pleased it wasn't the whole house.

A tenant put a plug in thermostat in the baby's room to control the wall heater. It ended up looking a bit like that. Baby survived but ANGRY parents.

We got a call early Sunday morning, that freinds of ours were standing out front of their house while the firefighters were exstinguishing a small fire that started in one of their closets. They had been woken up at 3:00am by the door bell ringing. It rang again while my buddy stood at the front door looking outside. He couldn't find anything/anybody, so he went back to bed after tripping the breaker that controls the door bell. At 6:00 am their alarm went off to wake up for church, and while they were getting ready, they heard a crash upstairs. There was no smoke, but a section of drywall was balck, and was hot to the touch.

The wiring had shorted out, and the blown in insulation around it had been smoldering for hours, which had burned through several ceiling joists, but not the roof, or into the house. After the firefighters left, there was decent water damage, at least 15' of ceiling, and wall drywall pulled down, and visible wood stud damage. If he would have opened up that closet door, it may have backdrafted like it did when the firefighters were opening up the walls.

Yea, be careful, and diligant out there !
