Watched a documentary on him and Dangerfield said his first stand up on TV was to air while he was working as a door to door aluminum siding salesman. He asked a home owner if he could watch the guys TV to see himself on the tube.

He was a comedy icon , he really carved a niche for himself with his delivery and nervous habits like adjusting his tie all the time . Comedy gold he was .

Another of the great Borscht Belt comics from the 50's and 60's. Lots of really good comics from that era and the resort scene.
Correct that he would be vilified by many of the "justice" movements today based on his material. IMHO, we have become too thin skinned and too sensitive.

What's wrong with dad jokes?
 Every form of entertainment ages. Rodney's is not different but he was funny for the time. His career didn't really get going until his mid 50s. I'm currently re watching Boardwalk Empire and the singing and music is incredible. This lady is amazing!
