Sprint Booster V3
Along with most all newer cars, my DD Honda with 5 speed manual, has 'throttle by wire'.
When rev matching, the rpm's hang on and make it difficult. Also, when accelerating, there seems to be a lag before it gets to the power band. I heard about this controller and purchased it. Installed it today..took 5 minutes. (truly a plug and play) Completely happy with the results. It really feels like more hp..but it's not. Snappy throttle...there goes the mpg! Anyone else have one and how do you like it? https://youtu.be/by5Up-o1tOg Highly recommend it here. :) |
That looks like a great idea and you can remove it easily when it comes time to sell the car.

Since installing it, I've put on about 50 smiling/laughing miles. :) |
My Veloster Turbo has terrible lag. I wonder if the Sprint Booster would help since I suspect it may be turbo lag.

https://www.sprintbooster.com/presentation/APPLICATION-LIST/ List might not be up-to-date. If interested, I would call them...https://www.sprintbooster.com/dealers/ I would think it could help...basically, all it's doing is getting the fuel to the engine faster when pushing the pedal. The YouTube vid in my first post is a good example. |

The 'throttle by wire' cars have a lag (or float) re: rpm's This item only works with 'throttle by wire'. |
I've been thinking about one of those for my Cayenne

A couple things I learned in the first week of use: Been winning almost all of the stop-light getaways! Prior to install...almost never! Gas mileage is down from 40 to 37 mpg. Will prob come back up when the novelty wears off. But wth..gas is only $2.08 here! :) |
I haven't read the literature, but I assume that all this does is trick the system into thinking that you're deeper into the throttle than you really are. To me most thottle-by-wire vehicles don't have a linear response. They seem to soften the bottom end, I guess so it's easier to idle around parking lots or something.
My Boxster is throttle by wire. One of the things that she "Sport Chrono" option does on Porsches is remap the throttle delivery to be more aggressive. I suspect that this upgrade accessory does the same thing. It's possible that the normal throttle curves are linear and sport mode makes them more aggressive, or maybe the stock curves aren't linear and Sport mode makes them linear. Years ago, we had a '97 Grand Am that had throttle by wire. It always felt soft on the bottom end to me. |
The YouTube video link in post #1 does a fairly good job of explaining how it works.
There are 18 different stages of agressiveness. Plus one setting for complete lockout (with pin) and one for valet parking. (super low response) |
Driven it about 3 weeks now.
When in 3rd gear and leaning on the pedal...it takes off like it's in 1st. Best upgrade I've ever done....and cheap and easy. |
