Several times a week I drive a 20 mile stretch of US 90 in Texas, it's two lane with a shoulder. I have had other drivers move over to the shoulder so I can pass and vice versa. I always wave, but not if I have to pass in the oncoming lane (legally).
That's the way I was taught as a Texas driver. |
I moved from Tn to Az in 1993. Pulled everything I owned in a 4x8 Uhaul trailer with my 1976 BMW 2002.
First stop was Denton, Tx to visit a Navy buddy. I didn't know about the "edge over to allow passers" thing. Kept getting passed and usually got some dirty looks. However, when I finally caught on...I let out an "Oohhhh, got it." Everyone waved. It was, and still is, very nice. Btw, Alpine head unit w/Boston Acoustics speakers. Modest system, but sounded great. Prob took a whole week for the drive. Visited Big Spring and ended up moving there 2 years later. Looove Tx. Back to Az '99. |
