Is this the new mid-sixties VW microbus

Almost 20 large for an '85 4runner. Granted, this is a low mileage creampuff, but that is a pret-ty big number to me.

Wow - who'd thunk? I know the 22R is legendary, and the live front axle is very desirable, but even as clean as it is, that's silly money for a 35 year old mini pickup. I would have guessed no more than five grand for the best one on the planet.

Try buying that same kind of truck today. I'll bet it'd be well over $30k. This one is known for being long lasting (think 200k miles without worry). New? Maybe not so much any more.

I've never seen a towbar like that.

Scott Douglas 12-26-2019 12:06 PM

Looks like some sort of quick stoing tow bar for towing behind a moho.

Crowbob 12-26-2019 12:09 PM

It looks like it may articulate somehow while in use.

NutmegCarrera 12-26-2019 12:20 PM

Hope that tow bar is not an engineer. May have trouble articulating. In which case, will most likely need to sketch it out.

....sorry - couldn’t help myself.

Scott Douglas 12-26-2019 12:27 PM

Only articulation I see is when it extends to form the 'A', like a normal tow bar usually looks.
Interesting design for sure and pretty neat way of doing it if you don't need the front bumper for a winch.

Crowbob 12-26-2019 12:33 PM

Maybe the fancy towbar cost 20K with the truck thrown in.

I think the towbar telescopes. How come none a youse guys found a pitcher of it on the internets, yet?

Scott Douglas 12-26-2019 12:41 PM

It's an older model Blue Ox tow bar. I looked but it wasn't on their website.
It only telescopes when it's being moved into position to tow, ie the coupler is being rotated to the left in the picture in the OP, the top leg shortend while the bottom is sliding over to the right side of the mounting bar.

That is strong money, would have thought at the most it would sell for mid-teens

I've got a Feb 88 with 22RE engine and 5 speed box in much better condition than that but it does have 105k on the clock and IFS

Original owner registered it in Venice, then the 2nd owner registered it in Padua, north eastern Italy, looks like it's always been garaged and doesn't have any rust I can find
