A real GT car for GTing

For weekends or more. My wife and I and our 60lb dog. Maybe a 991/2 because dog could take back seats? Was thinking also a 928 or 80’s M6. what else is there? Not sure dog would have room in AMG GT or Aston Vantage.

991 car take a 60 lbs dog out back but getting the dog there, in or out, is tricky... Heck even my kids have issues getting in and out (once there there is plenty of room). The seat reclines but even fully forward, I know my dog was freaking out about jumping into that weird opening and then how to get on the rear bench (assuming you'd fold the seats down). I'd recommend something more practical with 4 doors or a rear trunk....

Lexus...with a rear window so the dog can stick his head out. Plenty fast, comfortable, and dead reliable.

What I have is a Jaguar X150.
It is very, very good at making traffic disappear.


Not sure how big of dog you are talking about. The Jaguar is a 2+2 like the 911.

If the dog is joining you in the car then do yourself a favor and get something with four doors. My dog is about the size as yours and I think a 911 of any type would be impossible.

Well....because you mentioned the AMG GT and Aston Vantage, I'm going to assume that the purchase price is not a significant consideration.

Solution= Ferrari FF. Grab a three year old model that has massively depreciated. Some don't like the shooting brake design, I do. Plus it gives you dog and luggage room.

I have the same problem with my RS5 coupe - getting the dog back there is the issue. Not sure why I think a 992 would be any better - probably not. I’ve had M5s and M3s. Certainly easier to deal with dog but just not as fun. Dog is happy to ride in front seat of my race bucket ‘74 911, but that leaves no room for my wife - I may just have to make that sacrifice

There’s room, but getting her in the backseat might be tougher than than the dog....

I just checked and they have depreciated a lot! Not sure if the back seat is dog friendly but that engine sound is glorious. Porsches have always been my dream car but my pipe dream car has always been a 12 cylinder Ferrari.

I have thought about the FF but Ferrari have a connotation in my mind that just doesn’t feel right....unless I could afford a classic and I can’t. I would think about a 60s/70s Maserati. All the new cars seem so very capable of being daily driven that there’s nothing exciting about a weekend trip.

Was amazed at how much driving a Cayenne felt like driving my 928GT only it was higher off the ground.

60 lb dog is not a good GT passenger.

I got the GF a fully loaded Macan S, which is absolutely surprisingly fast on the freeway. Also due to the automatic whatever transmission (yawn) very very capable on the street. We drove it around (I drove it, she was too stressed out) in downtown San Francisco. I was totally impressed and would not hesitate to drive it on weekend jaunts to the coast, or Tahoe, or Palm Springs.

I'de argue the 90 lbs woman (if you are really lucky) is less of a good GT passenger.
they tend to scream a lot when the DSC is turned off..

So additional 30 lbs weight loss if you ditch the woman, never mind all the freedoms gained.
You get yer free will back and everything !!!
AND you can get a 2 seater for you and the dawg !
