Heavy stuff

Wish I had more time to watch and then study things like this. High school and college are wasted on the young.

Astrophysicist Janna Levin, PhD, is asked to explain the concept of gravity to 5 different people; a child, a teen, a college student, a grad student, and an expert.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting. The grad student level had some new things to me but nothing over the top. The expert level was a whole different animal.

She wasn’t explaining gravity any longer when it came to the expert; it was a conversation and I was happy to be there to hear it. Quantum is the latest frontier.

Cool conversation to listen to.

I would bet that virtually everyone on this board thinks they are above average intelligence. Some indeed are, most of us are pretty average. We are all smart enough to love Porsche! ;)

It is humbling to sit and listen to the two peers at the end of the conversation. I can understand the conversation and enjoy it, but I sure would not want to try to add my comments.

Thanks for posting it.

I watched the whole thing and it still didn't take.

However, the gravity wave thing did get a little clearer with the graphic of the two neutron stars circling each other.

Ripples in space-time is messed up stuff.

I also thought it was interesting when she described Einstein's intuition and insight.

Bah!!..

Yep, I too thought it a cool conversation. Not sure I understood it all at the end; heck it got bumpy at the high school level! And then some stuff I had already read about above the high school level. I'm trying to grasp gravitational waves and kinda getting it, but stuff like this helps sharpen the mind even if not all concepts are grasped. I'm happy if I fall as "average" in the smarts department.:D

My head explodes with some of the advanced stuff.
Next on our play list is String Theory!

No, not String Cheese Incident:

I finally understood The String Cheese on a riverboat show during Jazz Fest back then....

It's all simple in The Big Easy :)
