Netflix "The Witcher" anyone watching?

I've watched a few episodes. It's not bad. I think I saw the first GoT episode, maybe not even the whole thing. One of the kids thought the wife would be interested and brought the season 1 DVDS for us to watch. The wife wasn't interested in it so we stopped. I think this is capitalizing on the popularity, but it seems to be toned down a bit.

I watched it as long as I could. No matter how hard I tried I just was not able to care about the characters. I also got tired of all the irrelevant ‘lore’ and history. The Witcher character himself is kind of interesting in an old-timey, super-hero kind of way.

The actor is the guy that's played superman in the last couple/few movies with superman, Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, etc....

I have noticed that they tried to make the main witch a sympathetic character, but they don't seem to be getting it quite right.

The lead Henry Cavill also played in the awful "Tudors" series. I watched Witcher for a few but man is it bad. The actress that plays Yennefer looked great all naked and sweaty but that's not enough to keep it going. I expect a short lived series.

Is the story line true to, or does justice to the books? My teenage daughter is a massive fan of the books, but is literally too scared to watch it as she's terrified they will screw it up.

No idea, I'd never heard of it before the show.

Watched the first episode.
Not interested.
Maybe for the younger crowd?

I thought it was based more on the game than the books. Not that it makes much difference and no, I have not watched it.

I saw 2 episodes. 2 thumbs down.

2 episodes in.

If the main character keeps up with that brooding low speech I'm out.

He's trying way to hard and not getting very far with it.

I have watched a few episodes.
I don't quit get it...may watch more.

It's a lot easier to watch after Yennefer transforms... But same as you guys, I gave up about Ep3 initially, and eventually finished when I got bored on a trip, much later... The end is better - they put some $$ in the final battles... I suspect the books are better. Cavill just doesn't work for me in that role...

The quality swings wildly from episode to episode, sometimes from scene to scene.

But worth watching.

Noticed that - different directors from one ep to the next I think...

I finished the first season last weekend. I'm glad that they semi tied up a couple of things. Some series' like to drag things out.

In the beginning, I found it a little odd that the timeline seemed to bounce around with no indication that things/time was different other than when you got a statement like "I've been doing this for 30 years."

It's not going to win any Oscars, but it was entertaining enough for me to veg out to.

I enjoyed it. The producers have said it follows the books more than the games. I just started reading the first book so we will see.

Ep 4 or 5 I think that is.

Im sitting there thinking wait, didn't that guy get an arrow in the eye Ep 1 and she jumped out a window? WTF is going on here?

Then the 3 decades comment and I was all confused.

They could have done a better job of laying out that individual character arcs are occurring on different timelines.

Would be easier to follow.

Right. That was the worst part of the show, I thought, but even then, I eventually understood what was going on.
