Wild Week in the NHL. Coaches Gallows Edition..
Babcock is let go due to the Leaf's poor performance. More to that story?
Crawford under investigation by the Hawks organization. Peters resigned for the racial slur from back in 2009 while coaching in the AHL. Now Jim Montgomery gone from the Stars for committing a "material act of unprofessionalism" Anyone know what the heck that means? Sounds like the NHL is going on a full scale witch hunt. No question the behavior needs to change but I wonder how many of these old school coaches will be disappearing before the end of the season. Maybe a "Kinder and gentler" NHL on the horizon. On a positive note. Calgary has won 6 straight since Peters disappeared.

Forgot about John Hynes in New Jersey. At the bottom of the Met Division and only second from the bottom in the east, easy to see why they would want a change.
Speaking of the bottom of the east, WTH is going on in Detroit? I don't get to see much of their play but man they are sucking right now.

Yeah, Babcock never really clicked in Toronto, did he? I still believe he'll end up somewhere else if he wants to (Detroit?
![]() It has been a bit of a bloodbath with coaching already this year. A couple of them are legit due to poor results (e.g., Devils) but there may be a concerted effort to crack down on the old-school. I'm sure we'll hear more about the Stars' situation...eventually. Old school hockey ![]() ![]()

Actually makes me wonder if Torts is on thin ice in Columbus. Can't really blame him for the record (with their loss of talent this season), but he's as old-school as they come. I actually love Torts (or love to hate him, not sure).

Yeah, Calgary doing great. I'm a big Looch fan and I thought he might never score again. They are certainly on a role. Big game coming up against T.O.

If only all the games were that entertaining. T.O. is always interesting in the Dome. So many Ontario transplants that have made Calgary their home that the stands are half full of Blue jerseys...

Make Bruins Great Again

A few days ago I had just said that it is that time when teams are about to be in bad condition for a playoff run and there is some panic happening.

I recorded last night's game and watched the Preds lose what should have been an easier winner. I turn on NBCSN to see the pre-game for the Oilers/Leafs and find out that Lavy is (in the words of Monty Python) passed on, this coach is no more, he has ceased to be, he has expired, this is a late coach, a stiff, bereft of life, rest in peace, pushing up the daisies, he has run down the curtain and joined the choir unemployed invisible, he, is an, ex-coach. Looks like they fired the asst coach as well. Too bad, I liked Laviolette. Frankly I liked Trotz as well. All I know is that Poile usually makes wise trades and moves. It will be interesting to see who is behind the bench and what kind of game they play. When I get down there tomorrow afternoon I'm applying for the job.

Someone please check the meds Poile is taking (or tell him to step away from the hash pipe).
![]() Fire a proven coach (3 cup appearances, presidents trophy, playoff appearance in five straight years, Jack Adams award finalists) having a tough time and then hire a coach just fired because the best he could do was one playoff and the team was in the cellar this year. Why didn't they name an interim? It will an interesting game tonight.
