Pretty sure the impact of the tax handout on EVs like the Model S and Taycan is close to 0 as far as increasing demand goes.
Agreed. That's why we shouldn't be wasting the money. Besides "whataboutism" isn't a valid argument for doing so either.

The tax handout wasn't a waste to all, depending on which side of aisle they sit but that's a discussion for PARF.

I was able go for a ride in the Turbo S version yesterday. Absolutely mind bending.

Where? How? I'll never be able to afford one (or need one) but I would love a ride in one.

Local dealership had one. Sales manager offered a ride. I've never ridden in anything like it. Amazing car.

Of course, total range figures for electrics are always slightly fuzzy because an EV can't run at highway speed all the way down to a zero state of charge. Along the way, it will go into a limp mode and limit speed in an attempt to delay your point of strandedness.
That's like an ICE car which loses 90% of its rated performance at 1/8 tank. Is that really the case for these electrics ?

They didn't... Most people who had long term access to one report similar range to a Tesla model S, and same as advertised. Someone working on the test cycle results must have taken a bribe ;-)

Also my fav' test is a repeat acceleration test where by run #2 (not even 10) the TEsla gets beaten even worse. By Run #5 it's like the handbrake is still on for the tesla. The Taycan is a real car.. too bad it's so expensive.

One of the magazines did a similar comparison. The Tesla is crazy fast but it’s not repeatable. Teslas also are notorious for going into a sort of limp mode during track use.

Graham Rahal sold this one after 400 miles. Currently it resides in our shop. He had some interesting reasons for hating it...
