Fuel sending unit question

I replaced the fuel pump which included the sending unit on my old 93 econoline. Since it’s an after market unit I had to splice the wiring. The new unit has a black and red wire. That matches to the old wiring but the sending unit has two yellow wires. Existing wiring has a grey and white stripe and a yellow and white stripe. I’m guessing it shouldn’t matter which striped wire connects to which yellow. Yes?

Probably not. Does the manufacturer of the sending unit have a web site? They may have installation instructions.

Never assume anything with aftermarket parts. I'm somewhat surprised that there were not directions included. As said above, possibly their website

The pump is working...truck is running. Fuel gauge is psycho. I’m going to swap the yellow wires and see what happens. Cheap after market pump. I’m not going to keep the truck much longer so I really don’t want to put $$ into it.

Just reconnect them in the same orientation they were in the pigtail originally. Oh, and make sure you reconnected the ground wire . Pretty sure old fords had a seperate ground . Out with the tank again !!

No way I was dropping that tank. I cut a hole in the floor and got easy access to the pump. Well, I switched the sender unit wires and still have a psycho gauge. It floats from full to empty and back again while the truck idles in place.

You dirty rotten cheater ! Hey, whatever gets it done . Wonder if you can use the sender off the old pump if you have to . Id see what it does unplugging one wire at a time, then pull it and swap over the senders if you have to .
Or maybe you butchered some wiring while you were playing Dr Frankenstein chopping the floor out ?

Let me know if you need a wiring diagram

The sender off the old pump wasn’t working either. Maybe it’s the gauge??? Thanks for the offer. It’s just a dump runner and I always carry some spare gas with me. I can deal with the funky gauge.
