Women who smell of onions and garlic

I don’t eat that stuff because it gives me reflux so I’m hypersensitive to the odor. Does it bother you when you encounter women who smell of it? Is it just me or do you guys who eat onions and garlic not smell it on other people at all? It’s a huge turn off turn for me. I expect to smell it on dudes but when I smell it on women, it sort of disgusts me. I’m probably in the minority. Just checking if I really am the exception or do you feel the same?

As far as I'm concerned it's just you. MrsWD would eat garlic on breakfast cereal if she ate breakfast. I never notice a garlic smell unless we're cooking it.
We grew about 20 pounds of garlic and about 30 pounds of onions this year, so we use a LOT of onions and garlic.

I'm sort of confused here. I don't typically smell test people.

Do you have an extraordinary nose? I notice a little body odor. Don't care for people swimming in perfume. But, I can't say I'm smelling folks so that I can iD vegetables.

I have a customer that only wreaks of garlic when he comes to us, when I go to him, no odor. I think he eats garlic to mask the booze breath.

I've never heard that. Sure, I can detect differences among most people in general, but I can't recall garlic being one of the scents.

On a similar note, but very pertinent, cilantro tastes like soap to my son.

Few years ago, we were at a Mexican restaurant and they were making fresh guacamole table-side.
Guy asked if everyone liked cilantro. My then 15 yr old son said no. Waiter said "does it taste like soap to you?"

Son's eyes got wide "Yes! That's it! It was hard to identify, but that's it. Soap."

It's always interesting how our bodies interpret smells/tastes.

I agree with OP, it's ok to be sensitive to those smells.
I don't eat raw garlic, or raw onions, because they don't sit well with my system.
I too am disturbingly aware when my SO eats them.
I can't tell her what not to eat, but I do ask her not to sneak them into my food.
She eats TONS of garlic and onions when I'm not looking, and I agree that I am aware of it, and it is not pleasant.
But, to be completely fair with some of the others here, I seem to like the smell of garlic and onions cooking in butter. Go figure.

Allright, I gotta ask?

Where are you hanging out? Family gatherings?

MY wife can smell onions and garlic on other people. Her nose is very sensitive. She thinks that other people can smell like she can. She will not eat garlic when she has an appt the next day.
I have never detected the smell on her or anyone else. But I know others that have.

Same for my SIL.

It’s actually genetic.

They have a gene variant that makes them highly sensitive to a compound found in soap that is also present in Cilantro.

IMO it's a chemistry thing.

Some women just smell off. I don't think it's what they eat more about what their body smells like and it's not about personal hygiene.

Have you ever touched a woman and her skin feels tacky or sticky... or just not nice? Not smooth or soft to the touch?
I'm convinced that because my skin isn't compatible with her skin. Strange I know but there you have it.

Me too. That's exactly the way I describe the taste. Can't stand cilantro.

I am very sensitive to perfumes, air fresheners, dryer sheet odors, etc. MrsWD wore perfume when I first met her and after a few dates I had to tell her that I couldn't take it any more.

Early in my career I went through training as an apprentice perfumer. That's when chromatography was a bit of a different science than now, but I could detect a 10% difference between 2 fragrances just by sniffing the exit port on a chromatograph or on a blotter . So yeah stinky women were a problem for me. Not so much now.
