another dog movie

Based on Jack London's book
One of my fav books as a young kid..I think I read it at least 4 different times.
Hopefully it's better than 'The Art of Racing in the Rain'
Opening next Friday.

I won’t pay money to see it.

Harrison Ford and a lotta cgi with no spaceships?

My assessment is that it will be an insult to the book.

I won't either..but the book really impressed me as a kid.
I'll bet that it will do well at the theater.

Movies are never a good as the books for me. My minds eye is much better than screen re-writers, directors, and cgi.

True here also...but sometimes the memories of books are much better if not re-visited in later years.

Mine too, and I think I read it something like 4 times as well. It’s been made into a movie several times, and none have been satisfying.

And also...Harrison Ford is not believable enough to have survived in that territory.
Good looking dog though!!

stevej37 02-16-2020 12:32 PM

CBS Sunday Morning had a segment on this movie today.
The scenes with Harrison Ford and the dog..are HF with a man crouching down as a dog. CG fills in the rest.
HF said it was different wrestling with a man and petting his stomach...but money talks.

Saw parts of the trailer and was very exited to go see it..........until I saw the complete trailer where the dog was largely CGI'd. That was enough. Too bad as a kid I read several of JL books and the adventures that were portrayed in my kid brain from the images that kept off from the pages were awesome.

While I expected some CG stuff, the dog is not believable.

stevej37 02-16-2020 12:46 PM

^^^ especially in the trailer where the dog looks at HF with one eye.
C'mon dogs don't do that.

stevej37 02-16-2020 05:20 PM

^^^ at the 1:53 mark in the trailer.

I thought Call of the Wild was decent enough. I think they had to go with CGI to get the dog to do what he did. Not the best, but I still enjoyed it. Look at all the people here that went goo goo over Alita: Battle Angel...

I wonder what's going on with YouTube.
The trailer in my first post now shows 'video no longer available'??
It's only three months from the posting...something happen to the movie?

Rusty - my cousin Animated / designed Bolt! Nice compliment. I will pass it on!

Big fan of Jack London! Not sure about the movie either.
