Anybody ever use a solar battery maintainer on their car ?
My buddy does this with his backhoe that sits at his camp all year long .
Our Cayenne has an annoying parasitic drain, that I just do not have time to chase right now. It was never a problem when we were daily driving it , but now it is an extra car, and may only get driven once every few weeks . Annoying as heck to find the battery dead when I want to take it out . Was kind of thinking about just setting one on the dashboard and hard wiring it to the battery till I sort out the drain . I hate chasing parasitic drains. Even harder on a cayenne, with the battery under the drivers seat .

Yes, did that on my wife's truck while I figured out what was draining it. Got it at Harbor Freight for like $15, plugged into the cigarette lighter.

I have a solar battery maintainer on my race trailer. It works great.

I got a couple some years go to use for my tractors. They measured something like 4 in. x (maybe) 9 in. They did an excellent job. I hung them on the outside of my tractor shelter facing to the south. One thing that happened was the pig tail exiting the bottom (wire that delivers power) on one of them got moved around by breezes/wind and broke due to fatigue. Of course you will have to try to match the output of the panel with the draw on the car, but you can do that.

Is the Cayenne cigarette lighter " live " with the key off ? If it is I agree a small solar charger/maintainer that sits on the dash and plugs into the lighter will help .

Yes, even in northern England I have successfully used one bought at HF, on my Autosolo car which is only used once a month or 6 weeks.

I've seen a few that plug in to the OBD port, in case the lighter socket won't work.
