buy on the bump

I've been trying to buy a whole bunch of microsoft since the market opened, but the website is locked! Probably due to a flood of activity,
ARRRGGHH.

What is going on?

I only do Mutuals so I don't track the market like I used to.

sammyg2 02-24-2020 06:01 AM

coronavisus fears caused the dow to drop 950 points on open, and then 20 minutes later has bounced off bottom to gain back almost 200.
Microsoft opened at 167, it's up to 175.
Good time to but a s&p 500 index fund IMO.
Or not ;)

Thank you.

We have already had calls about composite production...they are looking for second/third sources.

We'll see.

Would have bought and sold by now, it's rigged I tell you, rigged ;) .

If it's free, it's rigged.

I used Fidelity and bought 3 stocks this am - execution w/in 2 minutes (didn't check closer 'cuz I don't care)

I have way too much MSFT now so will be looking to sell some later

I suspect your borkerage house needs a remodel...

Bill Douglas 02-24-2020 11:13 AM

.

I wouldn't buy anything.

Unless it's gold.

Today was the day to be holding bonds.

Strange.
This was with Fidelity and the only account that was displayed was the 401K.
The brokerage, cash account and IRAs were not visible. I logged on around 6:20 and it didn't clear up until after 7 am.
They had the standard "technical difficulties, we're working on it" message but it's working fine now.

RWebb 02-24-2020 11:36 AM

NFG - 'cuz it will be a while before perovskite kills gas, and there is a lot of coal to kill - this should be a good stock for a few years (which is what I call short-term) - very rare for me to buy a power co. but they are integrated

MRK - seems cheap now (sold it several years ago); not much appr. potential but high quality & drugs are where it's at (besides tech & surgical instruments); good Div.

Ciena - optical is building out and 5G benefits them too

if the market had gone up - or when it does, will sell:
AEIS - or some of it; little room for price appreciation - has appreciated quite a bit for me so hate to pay taxes, but...

I use ValueLine to get a 'quick' handle on indiv. stocks; I'm a cheapskate so I got to the library and pick thru it by hand

A friend of mine has an options hobby - he uses it mostly for income. He explained it to me but I zoned out after I realized he spent several hours every day on it. My view is to spend several hours every year...

RWebb 02-24-2020 11:37 AM

Sammy - why not call them up and ask WTF.

I assume you have enough $$ there that they gave you an account guy and the special phone number. It ain't special if you don't use it...

Sooner or later 02-24-2020 11:40 AM

I like Valueline. I did the same when I was really following stocks, library. 500 is more than I want to pay for a subscription.

I hope so because I own a fair bit of them.

Get in while you can fellas. The fundamentals are rock solid and with Bernie in the lead for the D’s, investors will start buying. This dip won’t last long.

Just not my thing. And not that he's the end-all of investing, but Warren Buffet doesn't invest in gold either.
