Not craptastic at all... Fun luxurious cars, great off road... We've had a couple and Land rovers too...
The issue is yes they depreciate a lot, after 10 years their bushings are likely shot and I mean all of them (not cheap)... Some have air suspension that can also cost a mint... Also some engine issues that would cost $500 in a ford require complete body off frame separation (no joke) just for access. We sold the wife's 2011 RR sport for that reason... So they're something you buy if you appreciate what they do (presence, comfort, power, offroading) and are handy with a socket. It's not that they break down a lot but it's maintaining a heavy truck that cost $$$ when new, same sort of deal as buying a V12 BMW in terms of repairs... As for an earlier post re: toyotas only on trails, depends... Toyota offroaders are cool and probably more reliable, but comfortable? no. I've seen a lot of modded Discovery out there, and we took our RR many time with RR dealer events, through mud and rivers, I could not believe the water level we were fording and was really impressed (until I had to unwrap aquatic plants from the axles at home). They are competent cars, even the new Velar which is totally a City truck and the least off-roading Range rover of all is doing great on trails and embarassing Macans in the process (off road)... Lots of bad rep, we never had a single issue with 4 LR/RR in succession. All were used. Just maintenance. |
Guy next door had one. It was always in the shop. He had it for one year. Always elect problems .

I recently saw a Range Rover in its natural habitat.
It was being loaded onto a roll-back tow truck in the mall parking lot. |

The British should not be allowed to manufacture anything more complicated than a shotgun. |
Why are their electronics wonky? Don't they use Bosch now? Installation issues?
|
Have had 2012 supercharged RR for a year now.
Love it. I went in knowing full well what to expect. But for $25k with 45000 miles it left money to set aside for any repairs. Love the way it drives, rides and feels. We have a tall greyhound and he fits in the back nice. No problems yet |

How would I possibly know that or even why
|
how ?well just told you
why? cause he's an annoying dbag and i don't want him to get any views and monetize from me. |
But why are you taking it out on me?

Get a used G-Wagon like a 4-5 year old G500 (AMGs / G55s/ G63s are way too expensive even used) and forget anything Land or Range Rover based.

I read this as kind of snarky My apologies |
I did a favor and bought a Range Rover Autobiography in 2014 for a friend back east (pretty sure it went to SE Asia as a high end taxi) and I've gotten at least 7 recall notices in the mail.
