I still have my 1981 250R that has the "Baja 500" kit from Sanders Honda in Visalia. The owner's son ran the Baja with it. It shakes the ground. With the stock rear swing arm, it will pull wheelies for miles and miles. I learned how to steer it with the front wheel up in the air and would go back and forth on dirt roads, pulling a continuous wheelie literally 5 miles long. The port walls are paper thin, and it has a carburetor that will almost fit a 1600 VW bug. I have thought about restoring it and getting it running again, but I'm not a pre-teen/ teenager anymore, so it's probably best staying on blocks.

And somewhere there is a circa 1984 video of me flying up "Competition Hill" in the Pismo Dunes. When I reached the top of the hill, I kept the throttle wide open. I didn't know there was an idiot on a 200X sitting at the top. Who sits at the top of Competition Hill?!? I went airborne and flew over his head, and stuck the landing.

I bought a 1985 Honda 125M about 25 years ago from a garage sale for $50. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKOotZqSNM8
It had flat tires, broken headlight, and a fouled plug. A tire tube, new spark plug, and a different headlight made it into the best vehicle I have ever owned. My son, and daughter both learned to ride on it, ecxplored countless farm lanes, and woods, and it hauled countless loads of firewood, and pulled sleds full of happy kids. I sold it about 5 years ago for $400, but wish I still had it. I currently still have my Kawasaki DX225 3 wheeler, which I plan on refurbishing to like new this Summer. |
