Europe is going to be hurting for a long time. They were in recession or darn near going into this, unlike the US, Italy in particular. UK stocks are back down to 2016 levels.

Nobody mentioned Las Vegas...the wests NEWEST GHOST TOWN..where the tumble weeds blow down the Strip...

The Mirage had a woman with the Corona, their "cleaners" went in...Restaurants, shows etc are all shutting down.

BTW it is a NO BRAINER to figure that this town would be all boarded up. unlike some others efforts which actually took some effort to think up.

Trump could very well lose to Biden, which is what the Elite status quo inclined people want. Biden with his suspect mental facilities would be their puppet on a string. The doddering old fool sitting on the throne..while the real power lies elsewhere...

The operative words here are NEVER MAKE A COMEBACK.. The FED put out 1.5T today and it didn't stop the route.. As I have stated previously blah blah blah...that the Corona fear is just the manifestation of a deeper anxiety that has been an undercurrent since 2008. The FED had been the guarantor of the over and under on the economy...with these circumstances that is now gone.

The REAL ECONOMY had already been in a serious decline starting in 2018, Corona just exacerbated the decline. The problem where a comeback is not likely is that the Developed world in particular is awash in debt up to the gunwales and the fiat currencies are debased with over a decade of monetary expansion. What little reserves are left will be expended on keeping society if not the economy stabilized. In that effort the Banks are the KEY, for if the Banks start to tumble it is lights out For example how do loans get serviced without a bank being the facilitator, or employees paid? Back in 1177 BC the civilization in the eastern Mediterranean collapsed into a Dark Ages where literacy was lost. The causation of that collapse had multiple causes, war, pestilence, famine all combining to weaken and eventually bring down the politicization. This time it will be the globally dominant Western model that is set for collapse.

The man/guru coming through the airwaves.
Correct as always. Just have to listen carefully.

They just closed my kids' school and sent them home (Los Angeles).

My eldest kid's school.has also been closed this week. One kid had symptoms, and is in testing now. In the meantime, school's closed until spring break. But they will be holding classes online. We'll see how that works out.

The two other little Noahs still have school in session, but given that daughter goes to a school with 2000 other kids, it's inevitable that someone will get sick and they'll shut that place down for a few weeks, too. Can't even go to Disney....

LAUSD is also trying to not close schools because so many kids get meals at school. Don't want the kids to go hungry. Plus, the individual schools get paid (by LAUSD) per kid in attendance per day.

My kids school in the UK is still open, thought the government would close it this week

Seems Boris is trying to coincide lock down of schools, business, country etc with the peak so people are self isolating at the critical time to try and help the health service as much as possible

We have a very cool cucumber of a health science dude advising the government over here so I'm sure they are doing what they think is best for the country

I hope Mr. Wayne decides to diversify to other states
(current owners as well).

The United States of America is a big place.

Chinese gov't had better damn well shut down their open air markets after all this is done. Cultural heritage or not, humanity has got to stop their primitive practice of zero food safety and eating literally everything that moves. Might as well make that a prediction too, because if we lack the political pressure to eliminate that, then we are all stupid enough to have it happen all over again, including more permanent damage to the world economy.

Maybe the Communists can put Bernie away in a hermetically sealed Sea Train now, so they can get him out of storage and dust him off in 2024. He can run against Trump's lack of response to the CACAS, Cajun Corona Acute respiratory Syndrome.

Oh settle down you guys, it's a joke....

We let ourselves become so dependent on China that we can't produce enough of the items necessary when a virus like this hits so....

Disruption of "Just In Time Supply Chains"...another expression of modern economic logistics...Who couldn't see that diaster coming from a mile away...

Hmmm if the supply of cheap Chinese or Vietnamese shoes should cease (90% of shoes sold in America come from over there) ...what are people to do? they need shoes to wear....at least for now..

cabmandone 03-12-2020 05:50 PM

It's beyond the clothing and gizmos. It's our dependence on China for medical supplies that should worry everyone. We sold our souls for cheap labor and we're seeing what that cheap labor really costs now.
