I may be wrong, but here's my theory. They say two kinds of surfaces that the virus survives longest on are stainless steel and plastic. Door handles and a lot of other surfaces in stores are stainless steel. The keypad at the checkout is plastic. The stylus is plastic. And lines and lines of people - dozens per hour - use those keypads.
If you go bareback you touch the keys, then touch your car door handle, the steering wheel, controls, etc and take it home with you.
So if I'm wearing gloves I don't touch the doors or keypads. When I get out of the store I strip the gloves off and toss them in the trash. I don't bring the virus home - at least not on my hands.

That'll work. Now, if they did that in the produce, we'd be ahead of the game.

Also, the SARS-CoV-2 virus particles are so small that they pass through the typical disposable face mask. CEC recommends not using one unless you feel you may be a carrier. OTOH, even if ineffective, socially it will be a plus.

I was at the gas station having some small talk with the guy in front of me. He gave me a wave of his gloved hand and said I should be wearing them too.

Then he took the receipt out of the pump and put it between his lips while he took his gloves off to get in his car.

I took Mom to an appointment today and then to grab a bite afterwards. The two places I went to for some take out were normally both eat in or take out places - but currently are take out only.

They both had hand written signs on the front doors informing patrons they are currently take out only - and no dining in.

The signs at both places had "Take Out Only" in big letters, which is fine - but I think it probably chased off some potential business because they left out directions for those who show up to dine in - and didn't call an order in.

IMHO....their sign should read:

"Take Out Only - Please Come Inside to Place your Order."

Or...

"Welcome - WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS....
....but take out only at this time.

COME INSIDE to place your order!"

Or....(there are other options I'm sure).....

I don't know if these are "changes", but since milk was all sold out, I bought some oat milk and found out that I really love it. Drank the whole container today.

And I found out that "The Right Stuff" movie based on Thomas Wolf's book looks spectacular in HD streaming on Amazon, viewed on an OLED TV. I have NEVER seen this movie with all of the period details intact. It's like watching it for the first time.

Aaand so it begins.
My dip**** neighbor got the last flight out of Australia and landed in Dallas this afternoon. He's been in OZ for a month, living it up, sending us pics of him and his friends in restaurants, etc yucking it up in Sydney and Brisbane - not social distancing at all. His wife - 69 years old, obese, COPD, and God only know what else - stayed in Ohio and was planning to move to a hotel for the first two weeks after his arrival home so as not to catch the 'Rona from his irresponsible ass. We said that's ridiculous and offered to let her live here for 14 days or so. Just today he spent hours in the Sydney airport and 8 hours in Dallas, rubbing elbows with who knows how many diseased people.
So she's here now.
We took his truck in the airport and left it in the long term parking lot for him. The lot is normally packed, but today there were maybe 12 cars there, but that's another story. I hope he's smart enough to find his truck in a 40 acre parking lot with 12 cars in it, but this guy lives in la la land and is in total denial of every reality, so who knows. We spoke to him while he was in Dallas and he said, "See you tomorrow." He had a fckn fit when we told him no, he wasn't coming over an no we wouldn't see him. Maybe wave across the fence, but that's it. He actually thought we would quarantine his wife in our home for 14 days and let him come and visit!
Our 6000 square foot house is already feeling cramped, but really that's my problem. I'm spoiled from living the good life and I can suck it up for a couple of weeks, but my neighbor's cavalier attitude is pissing me off.

Keep your doors locked, Patrick.

You're doing your neighbor lady a big solid there - much respect.

6000 sq ft house!!!! Fook, you could put 5 of my sized houses inside yours. And only bend the walls out a couple hundred feet. Well, at 1300 sq ft, maybe 4 comfortably.

I could take a wing at your place and feel like I was in tall cotton. Social distancing — it would take me 3 minutes just to get to the other side. :D

Stay well away mate. Sydney is Australia's hotspot.

It's YOUR Corona, not "My" Share-ona. Tell him that.

Yeah, it’s more house than we need. We could lose the whole 3rd floor and never miss it. I’m only up there maybe once a month. Neighbor lady has 3 bedrooms, a bath, and a sitting room all to herself up there.

One change I have really noticed, no more robo calls from India calling about my car warranty, or credit card payoffs. India is on total lockdown, and all those call centers are closed.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of your own phone line.

Instrument 41 03-26-2020 06:20 AM

All of those naysayers proclaiming this Covid was a hoax are now being very quiet. Another change is how quiet things are. We are under a state mandatory stay at home rule. With no cars on the road its so strange. And to top it ll off, the Mississippi River is projected to go over levys in certain places between Baton Rouge and new Orleans, and...just read where hurricane season is expected to be very active......

Big hospitals are even more chaotic. It's a really bad time to have a medical emergency of any kind.

My wife thought the two gallons of Clorox I bought a year ago was poison. Now she can’t use enough of it.
