In the spirit of trying to return to normal...

Anyone swapped one of these barrels into a 1911? How do you like it?

Boy, I thought this thing was all but dead. It had a pretty brief run, maybe 20 years ago if memory serves, then nothing more was heard about it. I bet ammo is somewhat difficult to find, and expensive when you do.

Do you handload? Its biggest attraction was its ability to be easily formed from .45 ACP brass. The biggest problem when handloading these bottle necked pistol rounds (this, the .357 Sig, and others) or revolver rounds (.38-40, .44-40, etc.) is that you cannot use carbide sizing dies, which means you have to lube cases for sizing. Then clean the lube off before shooting, just like bottle necked rifle ammunition. It really slows down reloading, and we generally go through handgun ammo a lot faster than rifle ammo.

So, kind of an orphaned oddball that is expensive to shoot and more difficult to reload than more traditional rounds.
