Text Messaging, How do I make a Group?

I need to send out a message to approx 40 individuals. Andoid and iPhones.

Is there a way to make a group so when I create the message I just type the group name and everyone is addressed?

iPhone limits to 20 contacts per message, so I could make multiple groups and send separately.

I searched the innerwebs, but it's a rabbit hole.

Subscribed.

I've tried before with no luck.

Could you create a group and add that group to another group? Nested groups.

I use an app on android called Textra. I can create a group by clicking on the group icon in th eupper right. Might be worth trying that.

I'm going to sweeten the pot- How bout a group with directed messaging only?

For example- Teacher texts a class of 40 students. Student #1 (or any of the other students) can text teacher back, but the other 39 students do not have to see the text. If teacher deems Student #1's query to be important, teacher can then update class as needed.

Reason being- I got put on a "group chat/text" once regarding a single bicycle ride. 90 text later, and I wanted to throw phone out window. Back chatter can get overwhelming very quick.

I'm on an iPhone, but some of my Team uses Andriod.

That would be great!

Yes Leaky! That would be nice. But till then, you can "hide alerts" for a group text.
That'll shut up the notifications, but the inbox will still show incoming.

I don't tknow if that is possible. But, put on the top of thegroup text message. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS GROUP TEXT. REPLY DIRECTLY TO ME!

If you know who all of their service providers are, you can email to text ie

Google “email to text” for all of the correct domains

I hate group text messages. Consider the end user.

With 40 people you (and everyone) will get 40+ replies.

I'd break it down to smaller groups, 10 max.

Edit: there are services that will send 1 way text messages.

I agree, but its a necessary evil, because this is a work function, not just blasting a bunch of friends.

And I always consider the EU, that's why I'm looking for options.

It's a mix of iPhones and Androids ( prob a flip-phone out there, too ), which makes it a little more tricky.

Email would be much more friendly, but time is of the essence in this case.

Couple of options, depending on the mobile providers, some have the ability to send text (via webpage) to users or groups of users.
Apple offers this and I think MMS will work cross platform;

There are third party services for this. You load up the list of numbers and it texts them all but doesn’t create a group, so you don’t have to worry about creating a huge thread and blowing everyone up.

DonDavis 03-18-2020 03:01 PM

Ok Sid, have you used one? This thread is looking for solutions.
Feel free to provide a product. Then I can see if it’ll fit my needs.
