Some Porsche Content To Binge On
Hi all.
I thought I might share a playlist of some YouTube videos I'm making. I bought a 1969 911S (#22 off the line) that has been HEAVILY modified into a GT2 Race Car. I'm bringing it back as a "Techno Mod" car (making it OEM from where it is would be absurd) and I've done 6 YouTube videos on it so far. Michael, you're scaring me using the grinder/cut off wheel with no guard and rotating towards you. I'm not trying to be critical for no reason. I have learned to turn the grinder over and use the wheel to the left. It's more awkward but the rotation is away and I keep my hands, arms and face to the right side. If that wheel should catch and explode, I'm not in the line of fire.
Using a grinder with no guard is not good practice, but sometimes it works better that way. If doing so, I sure stay out of direct line with that rascal. It's been awhile now since I've welded in body panels. You bring back some fun memories. There's huge satisfaction in that. |
Also, many years ago I helped a pelican member do a G-50 conversion on his SC. I cut the torsion tube and fabricated what was needed and welded it all in.
That setup you have with the adjustable height trailing arms is way beyond what I did. |

Well, Steve. I knew those images existed but I thought I would spare the gore. You've made the point!! I've never actually had a cut off disc explode but I have chunked a few and it's always a good idea to anticipate the worse.
Back to the build; Michael, if you don't have this info, the 911 body is built from the rear forward in order to get all the gaps at 4mm. The doors are hung to fit the rear quarters and the front fenders and hood are adjustable in every direction you can imagine. In your case you could hang the doors to fit in the ideal position and hang the rear quarters to align to the door edge and the usual assembly sequence for the front parts. But, you've been through at least one build with the Gray Ghost, so I'm probably stating the obvious to you. That's going to be one hell of a 911. Why isn't this in the 911 forum? |
