Well, they like to think so anyway. I grew up in Oregon but have been gone long enough that I can now detect the Oregon (and PNW in general) accent in friends and family. Indeed, I was chatting with a couple in a Nebraska hotel lobby a few months ago and asked if they were from Oregon. They questioned why I asked and were almost offended when I told them I recognized their accent.

What I've learned from this thread is...

There are lots of videos online of pretty damned hot chicks talking with British accents on YouTube.

I like that.

That is all.

Right, so you got the important bits out of the post. Excellent!

When I worked for GSK I teleconned frequently. There was one researcher with a thick highlander brogue that I simply could not understand over the phone. I asked him to repeat himself so many times that after a time he refused to speak directly with me. Most inconvenient.

Sure would have been fun to insert a Georgia Peach in that opening video. A buddy married one. Love how her voice flows like honey.

SoCal at one time had a very neutral accent, or none at all until the valley girl thing popped up. It never really went away after some 30 years. Many Genx'rs, especially females, end sentences on a rising voice as if it's question when it's a statement. Drives me crazy. My DIL is one of the extreme ones and she's a teacher. I almost dislike her on just that.

It sounds affected. If you can watch this more than 15 seconds you're better than I:

Gawd, that sound just like the DIL.
