Contest: Winner to receive free horsepower and race rubber!-I’ll make you famous!

MAMMALCHEMY 2002: WILLPOWER INTO HORSEPOWER!

Here’s the deal:

Since we are always looking for ways to (a) boost the power in our respective cars, (b) lighten our cars for the effective gains in power (c) make ourselves better people overall and (d) make the ladies look twice- I have devised the following contest.

1. Between now and December 24, you have to take two pictures.
2. Picture number one will be a downward angle shot of your bare feet standing on a scale.
3. Picture number one must also include (in front of the scale) a copy of that day’s newspaper. The date and your weight must be clearly visible. Not visible means no entry.
4. The second picture will be taken by a third person from about 10 feet way depicting you standing on the scale must also be submitted so that we don’t get any ringers with “heavy feet”.
5. . You are permitted to wear a tee-shirt and boxer shorts and nothing else for the weigh in. No shoes or additional ballast is permitted.
6. The posting of your pictures on this thread will be your “entry”.
7. The taker of photo #2 must be your witness who will attest to your weight in the event of a challenge. This person must be available for a discussion and to sign an affidavit if the need arises.
8. You will repeat steps 2-8 and post again on April 1. Same scale, same witness, same clothes, etc.
9. Play fair.

He who loses the most weight (in actual pounds, not percentage) effectively gains the most horsepower and wins the aforementioned free tires. We’ll get some math guru to figure out the “horsepower gains” accurately. For those of you who are chastised by your wife, girlfriend or significant other about the amount of time spent on the Pelican boards, show them your entry and say “So There!”

The winner will receive a set of brand new sticky tires donated through Grassroots Motorsports via a tire manufacturer to be determined. I will also find and have engraved a little trophy sourced from a garage sale sometime soon. The winner will likely also be featured in some sort of a sidebar article in an upcoming copy of Grassroots Motorsports magazine in which our sponsor often advertises.

Any questions, post them here so that all may see the answer and I don't have to duplicate answers.

Good luck!

Rules: All contestants must conduct themselves in good faith. Cheaters may not be caught, but you suck if you cheat. I’d rather be overweight, have no tires and lose than be a cheater. It’s your call. Any entrant caught cheating forfeits his entry. Furthermore, Dave’s decisions are final. How Dave reaches his decisions is beyond the reproach of anyone mortal except for his mother. Contest open to pelicanites registered as of the posting of this thread-no exceptions. I have already received Wayne’s permission for this thread and contest.

LOL, I weigh between 135-140 lbs at 5'9" tall, I'd have to "disappear" to win this contest Anyway, sounds like a neat idea for those that wish to lose weight, I'll keep working out with hopes of GAINING some weight in the form of muscle mass.

Stringbeans, et al.

I feel your pain. I am about 6'2" and weigh about 185 lbs. so I would likely not win even if I was eligible-which of course I am not.

If you are too skinny to be competitive, all I can say is root for your favorite entrant. When this thing heats up, the banter it will start promises to impressive!

David

A little late!

I saw a pic of myself in swim trunks about 2 months ago and realized that i had become a little too comfortable in married life, gaining about 35 lbs. I have since lost 23 lbs (3 hp). Can I have credit for these lbs since I plan to drop at least 15 more?

Moby Dick...

WOW! This must be a sign. My new year's resolution has been to lose weight for the past 2 years, and now I have a REAL incentive! I am 6'1" and weigh 255lbs right now, thanks to this past holiday. Anyway, those of you who have seen my pics are well aware that I spend way too much time in front of my computer and could stand to lose about 75lbs. Count me IN!

PBS,

Sorry, no retroactive registry. However, it sounds like you are on the right track. I would enter if I were you, your system is in place and has proven itself effective. Enter tonight before you lose another precious ounce!

You've still got some untapped horsepower in there somewhere!

(As an aside, I just realized how funny this would be if we were entering our wives or girlfriends instead of ourselves!)

Haha - another post from someone who can never win (now that I am unemployed I plan to go to the gym and put on some weight - I'm 6" and 160lb. I'm shooting for 175lb. Beefcake.... BEEEF CAAAAAAAAKE).

(As an aside, I just realized how funny this would be if we were entering our wives or girlfriends instead of ourselves!)

Ohhhhhhhh - your gonna be in trouble if you're caught saying that...

Cam,

This is David's girlfriend here (honestly, we are both studying for finals in the library right now) so, with regard to:

"Ohhhhhhhh - your gonna be in trouble if you're caught saying that..."

I put up with so much from Dave, I am used to it! However, I am not looking forward to dealing with him after he hasn't eaten a pizza in three weeks!

Jaime

AWWWWWWE YEA,

It's on! I have become a fat bastard over the last few years. I used to play basketball, tennis, etc all the time! To top it off I raced motocross (talk about exercise). Then came the "accidents" seven fractures in my foot, total reconstructive knee surgury, rehab, and beautiful weight gain! I have gone from a solid 6'2" 190lbs to what can only be described as a glorious 270 or so. Barring the use of dieuretics, cytomel/T3, or god be with you DNP, I feel I can compete. Can I use the industrial scale at my business? I might break a normal bathroom scale! Also, I would assume including in the shot my nextel with the date on the display would suffice( I refuse to buy my local liberal rag). Please post a reply as to my "slight alterations" and their accepability. As a side bar, am I the heaviest/fattest/filthiest pelicanite out there? I am betting so. It's good to be unique.

Haha Jaime

I'm been taking (extremely good natured) crap for months from my girlfriend about going back to the gym. I admit I am getting pretty skinny.

She must want me to deliver on the "pimp" part of my signature. Big muscles and gold chains?

Now back to studying!!

Tim - for the Targa tarmac rally I raced in recently, my co-driver and I had a COMBINED weight of only around 300lb. We must have had at least a 100lb benefit on our heaviest competitors.

Shame I'm a crap driver and the car is slow (and broke).

Me? Give up Cindy's blueberry pancakes? WHEN PIGS FLY! 6'3", 245, and I dined with pleasure for every ounce! Also, at age 59, married to the same woman for nearly 3 decades, I'm going to go after some 19 year old girl? Or even a 30 year old girl? Not likely. I decline your challenge.

That's Cindy on the left, "shamu" in the middle, and Evren on the right. What, me worry????

I'm in ................6'0 232#. I've decided that my new heel would like a lighter load.
I may not win. But my car will go faster.

Great Idea

HEY I JUST HAD A THOUGHT!

You are weighing yourself between now and December 24th.

You want to be heavy to get the biggest delta to your final weight.

That means you have to eat and drink yourself stupid between now and then. It is an important and integral part of the contest (explain that to your wife/girlfriend/dog).

In particular, the official "weigh in" should involve a binge of never before seen proportions.

I'm kinda jealous

Or, I could just hold our 20+ pound "fat cat" when the scales pic is taken...suddenly, I could go "down" to 245.

Can girls play too?

I wanna play. I'm 5'5" (on a really good day ) and 129# and don't own a Porsche yet but my boyfriend does. If I borrow his boxers and a t-shirt, can I play too?
