One Year

My dad passed a year ago today.

How did I spend the day today?
Working from home, had a couple of online meetings, made my son lunch and then we went out to the garage and screwed around with various power tools.....

Perfect.

Miss you Dad.

Thanks for making me think of my dad. He's been gone seven and a half years and I'm ashamed to admit that entire days now pass without me thinking about him.

Miss you, Dad.

I lost my dad when I was 18. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. Billy, I feel for you, and would love to tell you it gets easier. I think in a way it probably does, but don't worry if it doesn't. Don't feel like something is wrong if you never really "get over it". While we all expect to out live our parents, I think it's perfectly normal, perfectly natural, to kind of "carry them around" with you for the rest of your life. Especially if you were close. I think in a way it makes us better men - I know I'm always striving to make him proud, even if really he isn't here. Hang in there - we all go through this eventually.

16 years and about a week ago for me, within a few days of his birthday, I don't remember the exact date. My mom is still around and going strong.

Hey Bill.....

Thank you so much for your post.

I know it has touched many here, including myself.

You are your father's legacy as your son will be yours.

It's an awesome responsibility but worth every bit of effort....if only to read words written such as yours.

Thank you to your Dad.....he's smiling down at you no doubt!

Sorry about your dad. Mine passed away in November.

April 13th it will be 28 years for my dad.

Jeff - well said.

It was a tough day but a good day.
Talked to my mom and her nursing home is in a full lockdown from the damn virus but she is doing okay.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and sympathy.
Oh, today was drywall day in shop class for my son...
Cheers!

In one week, my dad will have been gone for 36 years. I think of him a lot lately. When I'm working with my brother up at his new place we are constantly saying "That's the way Dad would have done it"
We both learned a lot from him. He is always there working with us as we build stuff.
I wish my kids had been able to know him but he was gone by the time they were born.

Middle of May - mine will have been gone for 9 years. I still think of him often. He never saw out house we bought 8 years ago - and the woodworking shop I built next door a few years after.
