Peyton's place

I've never been much of a binge watcher (unless lonesome dove is on) but this weekend I watched a whole bunch of episodes of "Peyton's places" on espn. Maybe 6 or seven hours worth.

It's a show produced and starring Peyton Manning as he talks to NFL greats about NFL history, memories, places etc. Loved it.

Pretty much gotta say that Peyton is my new favorite retired football guy, he's a crackup. Dry sense of humor, a subtle smart aleck type. Quick-witted but not an A-hole at all.

And he's a great interviewer too. I would really like to hang out with him and Brett Favv-ray some time.

Evidently there are 30 episodes, but ya gotta pay $5 a month to watch them on espn+.

Bummer.

In one episode he was at the wilson factory trying to make a football.
One of the employees was showing him how and said "use one finger to do it like this".
Peyton said "you're pretty good with that one finger, you could be an eagles fan". Crack up.

The show is great.

I usually delete shows, especially these type of shows, after I watch them, but I have kept all of those I have watched....I am through five or so. Peyton is a natural.

Humpmobile.

There was a great trivia question on the show:
Which right fielder for the NY yankees was replaced by babe Ruth?

uh oh, evidently the trivia question on that show was actually a myth:
Quote:
George Halas:
Afterward, Halas played minor league baseball, eventually earning a promotion to the New York Yankees, where he played 12 games as an outfielder in 1919.[8] However, a hip injury effectively ended his baseball career. The popular myth was that Halas was succeeded as the Yankees' right fielder by Babe Ruth, but in reality, it was Sammy Vick. Later that year, Halas played for the Hammond Pros and received about $75 per game.[9]
Ruth started playing for the jankees in 1920.
