i-IROC Racing Series?
I think its time to bring back i-IROC
With Fox Sports, and others, showing iRacing (Sim-Racing), it got me thinking. What a great platform for true IROC racing series 30 laps, in a NASCAR at Daytona 30 laps, in an LMP1 car, at Road America 30 laps, in an F1 car, at Spa 30 laps, in an Indy car, at Indy 3 laps race, in a DTM, at the Ring. 30 laps race, in a V8 Supercar, at Bathurst Tracks subject to, and race series subject to, what iRacing has available. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rOvFEBkLXbA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> All cars exactly equal. All down to just how the driver can adapt. I would watch. Heck, I would even care. |
Surely there are enough of us Pelican Iracers that we could have our own series...
I'm amazed that there hasn't been at least an "interest thread." DL |
Assembling an iRacing rig now. it's tough. Many parts unavailable. but yeah, in two weeks I'll be ready for an IROC series if we can somehow make it happen.

Growing up, my dad was friends with Bob Beasely, and I knew his son. I used to hang out in the garage (with his son) with his dad's Blue Iroc #8? I remember his dad would not run the fiberglass doors, claiming the weight savings was not worth the safety penalty, and that (jokingly) people discovered 911's handled okay, when you put wider and wider tires on it, they handled even better and better. So, it became a war of wider tires. :) The flares he had on that thing were gigantic. Compared to my dad's 1966 911, all I can remember is how WIDE the iroc was. At the time, I think the flares were extended even wider with fiberglass than the stock version. Can't really remember.
Every time I saw the car, it was on jackstands, I think his son fired it up once when we were down there. Can't really remember. Mr. Beasley even came over to my house (at my dad's request) once to evaluate some scoring on a 944 engine I had. He stated "no big deal." Nice guy. Beautiful car. IROC was a cool idea. That blue 911 was the bomb! |

Guys, I posted on here a few times last year and before trying to get interest. PCA has a HUGE iRacing series..It's broadcast live on You Tube every Friday night during the race seasons..
https://pcasimracing.com/ Right now we are using the new RSR, but we have a discord channel and everybody spins up practices at various tracks with vintage P cars, etc. Total blast.. |
