ELISSA.....How COVID-19 is affecting me.
UPDATE FROM ELISSA.....
"Could everyone please keep me and my family in your thoughts? COVID-19 is affecting all transplant patients here at Duke. With the no visitors rule currently in place everyone that gets a call for transplant now and in the near future has to go through the whole process COMPLETELY by themselves. No caregiver. No family. No visitors. They can only drop you off at the door and the only support you will get is to communicate by phone which isn’t necessarily a guarantee either. To say I’m scared is an understatement. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it and to come to terms with it. Currently I’m “status-7” and will be back active on the list this next week. I’ve been told transplants are happening at a record time with minimal wait. Especially since Duke isn’t taking on many evaluations or having people relocate at this time. Wait times that could potentially take months is happening in days. All I can hope for is that the rules for no visitors lifts sooner than later so I’m not going through my transplant all by myself in the hospital. 😞" |
I have thought of Elissa (and you too Gary) a lot during this ordeal, but was afraid to ask.
Just don't know what to say.... |
Elissa - From what I've seen of the posts Gary has posted here on the forum you'll be far from going through this alone. There are a whole lot of people here that will be with you every step of the way.
You're a tough kid, given what you've already been through. You've got this kid. Hang in there, we're all pulling for you. |
Thank you for the update. I have looked on the FB page a few times so see how this is affecting you. On the upside, you will likely get the transplant very soon (yay!). On the downside, you have to go it alone... and I can't even imagine what that must feel like.
Please know that there are a lot of people out here pulling for you and hoping for good news. You got this, and despite the seemingly millions of bumps in the road you have overcome, when it's all over your journey will be worthwhile. Stay strong. |
It’s already been said, you can do this. I see it as just another attribute to factor in. You have all been doing this all along.
Certainly an important factor, I’m not downplaying that, but I see great strength and love all around you. Press on, young lady. We are right here with you every step of the way. Please check in often. |
You have your own Army of support right here on this forum , we are all pulling for you . It's ok to be scared/nervous but don't let it consume you . Stay positive you are an amazing young lady . Thanks for the update .

Of course you are scared...we all would be.
I have read about you and your incredible perseverance with great admiration, both for you and your family. Quite a team. I trust you to husband your fears and focus on the strengths you have been given that are innate and powerful, those strengths are yours young lady...they will help guide you through this as they have before. You are not alone. Close you eyes and picture all the old Porsche guys pulling for you. Most of us are in this thread: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/237982-ultimate-jack-olsen-self-portrait-thread.html Now THAT is scary!!! All my best, Elissa. |
