Kyle Larson: As Vash would say, "Poof...gone."

Apparently used the n word on the radio and was fired after sponsors ran away quickly.
Also suspended indefinitely by NASCAR, as he should be.

There is talk that there are rides available but he has to get cleared first. He has, in the past, been a dirty driver and although apparently very talented, he's not real likable. I can imagine the boo's he will get if/when he drives again.

Personally, I wouldn't miss him. He got a lot of notice by the race announcers due to his penchant for 'riding the rim', or cushion when on dirt. At the big tracks he would keep the thing a couple of feet off the wall when almost all other drivers where anyplace else but up there.

He's got 6 wins in 7 years in Cup. He wasn't THAT much better in the Xfinity cars with 12 wins in 6 years. IOW, he's dispensable.

Works for me.

Just so that were clear on something - big corporations are not driven by right and wrong. They don't make decisions based on what you think they should do. They only make decisions based on the almighty dollar. If they think this guy is bad for their sales, then that's why he's gone. If marketing decisions end up randomly looking moralistic then it's easy to conflate the two. It's no better when Samuel Jackson uses the n-word in a Quentin Tarantino movie. It's just as bad, but it does not harm anyone's marketing image.

I heard he needs to take some sort of class and when complete he can run his USAC sprint car. I do not see him ever getting back into NASCAR. He chit in his own Cheerios.

Pretty crazy how PC this country has become... Rappers still use the word and worse.... they get invited to the Whitehouse with the Obamas.... This guy slips up while playing an online video game and his career is "gone". You can physically assault someone in NASCAR and get a slap on the wrist.... Use the incorrect "bad" word and banned for life.

The class was mandated by NASCAR. USAC might not give a rat's ass because he would be good for ticket sales. Not that many big name sponsors in USAC anymore.

Chip Gannasi's no. 42 car driven by Larson has had McDonald’s, Credit One Bank, and Chevrolet as sponsors with C1 and McD on the hood (main sponsor) mostly. I can see why McD being the biggest fast food chain ran away.

Don't all NASCAR fans eat at McD's five days a week? :D

Even if he is allowed back to NASCAR, the only way he will get a ride is if he drives for himself and then he still has to find a sponsor. I just do not see that happening.

Mebbe he could drive the Cocoa Puffs car :D

Nascar lost me quite a few years ago...meh....

Heard today that Matt Kenseth will be driving the 42 when NASCAR starts up.

I wish they would get the Fuchs over it. Who doesn't let a bad word slip now, and then.

This kind of knee-jerk reaction is what will finish off NASCAR.

As I recall it all started with Jimmy the Greek back in the early 80's with his comment about the size certain people's butts.

Kyle's racism cost himself 15 million dollars in earnings.
What a fool.

flipper35 04-28-2020 07:14 AM

I don't think the context in which he used it was as bad as some others have. His statement was similar to saying "What's up bragh?"

sc_rufctr 04-28-2020 08:03 AM

Is this it? It sounds like he was clowning around. Not even sure what to think...

That's just Kyle's way of adding racism to a basic radio check.

The sponsors fired him, NOT Nascar. Not the team. The team's hand was called when the sponsors pulled out.

The issue is whether it would have been better for the sponsors' image(s) if he had issued an apology, retracted his statement, and was allowed to make it right. I think the sponsors are living in an ultra intolerant bubble world that is "free" of racism, which does not exist in reality anywhere in this world. The sponsors are obviously corporate bots who do not live in the world that you and I inhabit. Their fake corporate boardroom take does not play in reality, unless you have retreated from every day living to some entitled protected enclave, free of the give and take of the rest of society.

KFC911 04-29-2020 01:51 AM

Nascar has been nothing but "all about sponsorship $", from the very beginning....to the very end :(.

RIP...
