iRacing
Anyone following this? For the most part (and even despite Vash's recent thread), we're car guys and race fans on this bulletin board. We have interest in IndyCars, sportscar racing, F1, MotoGP, and even NASCAR. Heck, some of us even like drag racing and boat racing or maybe even Formula E (or is that stretching it?). But with all sports canceled and races now being held for fun via simulators, is this entertaining? Has anyone logged on to watch a virtual race in any "series"? How is this any different than watching a bunch of people play Xbox live?

Porsche has the virtual edition of the Mobil 1 Supercup going. They opened it up to the actual drivers in the IRL Supercup and outfitted them with driving rigs for their PCs. They also invited some of the top competitors in iRacing. I was skeptical at first. But, I found it to be enjoyable.

Races are too short for the most part, and not enough serious consequences for bad driving, but entertaining IMHO.
Feel sorry for Kyle Larson, though. He had a brain fart, and now his career is ruined. |

Watching other people play a game is BORING!
That goes for NFL, NBA, bowling or golf and all the other games played with a ball or a funny flattened ball called a buck or a birdie. It is a game. Sports are track and field, mountain climbing or racing, sky diving and so on. Watching someone operate a computer is as exciting as watching grass grow. Just my opinion. If you like it, have fun. I will get in my real 911, and go for a drive and have some fun. |
