Here’s a great quote from C.S. Lewis - “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive....those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience” A little food for thought because in reality - WE ARE NOT ALL IN THIS ‘TOGETHER’.

You should read “The Misquotable C.S. Lewis” and stop repeating everything you read on the internet.

This is being used as an election year stunt to wrest power. Nothing more, nothing less. There are forces currently in power that will stop at nothing to ensure that pain, misery and suffering are levied upon us until November. If that doesn’t get the result they want, they’ll ratchet it up to the maximum they’re able just to punish us - to whatever extent they’re still able to.

Unfortunately when “Russia, Russia, Russia” failed and so did impeachment, they didn’t just go away. This is the latest act, capitalizing on a crisis to effect a result.

That’s pretty good, and very relevant.

Ok, FULL quote.....

God in the Dock Quotes
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”
― C.S. Lewis, God in the Dock: Essays on Theology

Not sure what you’re implying wd?

So, everyone get out the bus-pants, big daddy govt has a metal tube to pack you into. Here's a face mask, you'll be fine.

Not in MN, apparently our death rate doubled on the roads last month. With hardly anyone on them, speeds are way up.

Pretty hard to die in a traffic jam going ten miles an hour...

Methinks some of y'all need to GTF out of your house....to protect your sanity.

Seriously...but don't be stupid...go for a walk in the woods or something.

Nobody is gonna shoot you, and NO ONE is going to stop you....pay the fine mebbe...BFD?

Drama queens...

island_dude 04-23-2020 02:13 AM

Seriously. I can't speak for other places but Virginia and Maryland are not stopping people who are out on the roads or the streets. I am mission essential at my work and there are no cops stopping anyone. In fact, we have a lot more people on the road than a lockdown might indicate.

I heard in Bellingham Ma the Board of Health just announced anyone over 5 can not be out the house without a mask or you could face arrest. The talk of Boston morning radio this AM. This is whacked.

Yep, and they aren't even passing new laws to make this a crime. They're just declaring it. But it's for your own good. And it's good that government has taken this opportunity to untether itself from the protections that average citizens used to enjoy.

This has been a theme for quite a while even before the pandemic, and is getting stronger. Think helmets, seat belts, warning labels, the list goes on.
