I probably won't get another sports car (to everything there is a season) but a 1972 240Z in the right fettle for a good price would be interesting.

I'd go take a look just to make sure.

I've owned a 912 and a half dozen air-cooled 911s (including a 930), none of which garnered near the attention from Joe Public as the one Z-Car I owned up until a year ago. Everyone can relate, I guess: they either owned one or knew someone who did. Plus, the style has aged beautifully and they're actually pretty well engineered and built.

What the hell, have a look!

I was looking for an old truck a few years ago and went to look at one owned by a little old lady. Truck was sweet and in great condition. However, I noticed she had something under cover in the garage so I asked about it. "Oh, that's my 1970 240Z, orange. I bought it new. It sure was fun driving down hwy 14 at 115mph!" she said.

She didn't want to sell it. Was/is going to gift it to a grandchild. Lucky kid!

I saw an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they did a 70's Celica, and I started searching on Craigslist. Luckily there was nothing local. Haven't looked since.

I started a conversation via text with the seller , I need to stop 😁 . If you are interested go for it . Do a search on North Georgia Craigslist and under cars for sale type in 240z . It is for sale in South Carolina . Good luck

Looked at it. Watching every 240Z on BaT, I think that car is in the $2K to $3K range. If it either ran or didn't have the rust, I think the asking price would be fair then. The orange is great!

I've owned a Datsun Z or ZX in some way, shape or form for the past 20 years and love them!

As freaky fate would have, my 76 year old neighbor bought his 240Z brand new in 1973 and still has it today. What are the chances two Datsun guys would ALSO live next to each other? Crazy but amazing stuff.

Go buy that Z!

Our cars side by side:

A friend who does most of my major auto repairs has a barn full of complete 240/260/280Zs that he brought back from California over the years (when they were really cheap). He also has many parts, engines, transmissions, and other misc.

He used to own an import repair business that was flooded out several times in the 80s/90s so he moved it all to his house in the country where few know what he has. I have tried to talk him into letting me list (for a commission) parts, and cars individually in this sellers market, but he insist on doing it. He hasn't started yet, and honestly, I don't know if he will. God Forbid he should pass, his wife will have a fire sale, not knowing what things are worth.....it's just a barn full of junk to her.

The seller told me he is the third owner and he purchased it a few months ago . The second owner had it from 1974 . The rust wouldn't scare me and the color is one of my favorites . But I agree it is a 2500 to 3000 car as it sits . I have enough toys at the moment to keep me busy .

240

Here’s my Racecar, we joke that the cost of racing the 240 is very similar to Racing a 911, but you move the decimal point left one place for the Datsun
