Anyone a Yelper?
https://www.yelp.com/biz/myrtle-beach-automotive-myrtle-beach?osq=Mercedes+Dealship
I got farked by the Mercedes Stealership. Brought my ML 350 back for a warrantied repair. Got hosed again....stupid me. Still got an error code and check engine light. Enjoy....if you live in the area....pile on...... |
Joe - I hear you. But Yelp seems to exist for it's own benefit w/o much real impact anymore. I know there are firms that businesses hire that have software to combat negative information and also have people on their staff post fake 'good' reviews about products and services that were never received from the business that hired them.
it seems that yelp is blackmailing businesses to purchase their services...…………. or else. Like the Mafia guys who come around once a week to skim a little off of the top for 'protection'. I would first contact the service manager - discuss it that way before posting publicly. …..my .02 |
Yelp reviews are bought and paid for. They’re also known to arm-twist businesses like a mafia protection racket “or else” get bad reviews emphasized. They have little credibility in my book...

Phone calls and Email x2. No joy.

I posted the topic, "Yelp is crooked and I can prove it."
I got a bum central A/C installer and I left an appropriate review. It was deleted. I did it again and again they deleted it. I met a house painter who actually pretty good and he has nothing but 5 stars. He told me straight out that costs him $500/mo. He is busy as hell because of all the suckers. |
Makes me think of this...

Chances are they don't care about Yelp - plus Yelp doesn't get syndicated as much as the 3 platforms I just mentioned. Also, here's a list of all their profiles you can leave a review: |

Ha! That’s the first thing I thought of when I read the thread title. About 8 years ago someone I know started a yelp review business. He would get paid for positive yelp reviews. He owns a Lamborghini Diablo nuff said. All BS.

Tried it for 30 days, stopped it right after.
|
I yelped the other day when a wrench slipped and I busted a knuckle. Or, was that swearing?
|
I'd pay attention if my dog yelped...and that's about it ;)

I used to write tons of Yelp reviews back in the day. It was fun. But it became very apparent that their business model relied on strong arming businesses into their protection racket.
It also became obvious that people were using bots to post positive reviews about businesses. Some no account restaurant that had 3 reviews in a year suddenly gets 20 positive reviews from 20 new, or nearly new accounts. Yeah, nothing fishy about that. |
