green house experiences?
looking for recomendation on a plexiglass type green house that could be from 40 to 60 SF, tall enough to walk in with a door and does or does not have integrated shelves. see a ton of clear sheet plastic types but those don't interest me much. want something that will last a number of years, keep vermin like deer, turkeys, fox and maybe even this guy when my tomatos are ripe and he's crazing threw again...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le-yvNEwlMw figure on growing in pots due to native soil conditions and gophers... if the bear returns and wants in he's coming in, but something that will keep most visitors out....

The Harbor freight one is better than you think. No really.
Make sure the base is built according to the instructions and it’s well fastened down. Plumb it before tightening the bolts fully. If you build an extra layer of 6x6 on the base it’s plenty tall enough to stand up in. Still looks new and it’s been through 2 winters. |

On my layoff, I have been building a 10x16 stick built greenhouse for my wife. I have nearly all of the footings, walls, roof trusses, and purlins mounted, along with the window, and the door. I still need to cover it all with Tuftex polycarbonite panels.
https://www.google.com/search?q=lowe%27s+greenhouse+panels&rlz=1CATTSD_enUS813&sxsrf=ALeKk01AzVPdDAlTbMgUfOMN-QMS-FeTOA:1588126822200&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiuquG4yYzpAhXPHM0KHU9jDtIQ_AUoBHoECAwQB g&biw=1536&bih=762#imgrc=IuprU-4TyF1u9M https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-GreenHouse-Build-Solid-Structure/ The greenhouse we had last year was a cheap, metal tube frame unit, with fitted plastic. I think it was 6x10, and did the job for the Summer, but several storms (strong winds ) wrecked it, and nearly blew it away. |

We had an 8x10 walk-in that we liked. It had an aluminum frame with open cell polycarbonate wall and ceiling panels. It was very sturdy, except for the sliding doors that kept falling off their
Tracks. It was a Winter Gardenz brand.

I had an HF. The large one. The doors suck. The panel retention sucked. Every so often a good wind would lift a panel out, and once the wind could get in, it would blow out several.
I have a palram now.much better construction. The side panels aren't twinwall but if you're not in a really cold climate no big deal. I have a small propane heater inside and it holds 50's with temps in the teens.

Had a Turner greenhouse for years. Built like a tank. Never any problems.

wind can be an issue at my place in the afternoon so that is something I will have to consider. the turner green houses linked above were a little more than I wanted to spend as a first timer.
raw, the targa glass idea has some merit..... planning on a few tomato's, some other herbs, and of course some hemp for my rope braiding hobby ![]() ![]() ![]()
