Do the classified guidelines not apply to everyone?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/149727-read-me-before-you-post-guidelines-posting-forum-updated-9-28-2017-a.html

- You may *bump* your ad, but no more than once every three (3) days. Ads that have been bumped more than eight (8) times may be closed. After a thread is closed, the parts advertised therein cannot be posted again for four weeks.

- You may not create more than FOUR different posts at any one time, or have more than four posts bumped onto the first page of the classifieds at any one time in a 24-hour period. The reason for this is to allow space for everyone to buy and sell

Because of the corona virus congress has given us 1 bump per day as long as we are wearing a mask. The Pelican Corona Virus Aid package also allows up to 10 items at once for people with dependents as long as they follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask while using PayPal.
Chris Cuomo no rules apply to him, he may do as he wishes without interference.

Haha - classic! :D

Since there is a dedicated classifieds section, it makes me wonder if anyone is supposed to be selling anything outside that section of the forums.

These rules are in the classifieds rules list, and seem to be broken quite a bit as well:

- No user is allowed to post product for sale that they make. If you want to list a product that you make and sell it to the community you need to contact an Administrator to set up your product in our catalog. Only vendors of Pelican Parts may sell product on our forum.

- No new parts allowed, unless you specifically clear it an Administrator first. Exceptions are if you have one or two small trinkets left over in a box from a long time ago. Selling more than quantity one of a new item is prohibited.

- No rebuilt parts allowed, if they compete with items sold by Pelican.

Erasing the sold price is irksome.

Stophos 04-25-2020 01:29 PM

Erasing the price??

Bizarre... I mother F every time I see the price removed. It makes no sense. Even if the seller sold it for less you can leave it so we have a general idea.

So if you are one of the JO's that removes the price, yes I may very well have cursed you. :D

boyt911sc 04-25-2020 01:58 PM

Solution......

If we start “quoting” the AD for sale with price, the original AD will stay. The OP could edit his post but the quoted AD will remain intact.

How,about the posting EBay ads with no price just a link so you can bid ! That irks me no end and there is one particular offender who simply says WAyne receives a cut when a sale derives from a pelican ...
Hey MoFo Wayne doesn't call the shots any longer !

911 SLANT 04-25-2020 07:08 PM

I always leave the posted price after sale. It give other sellers something to go by if they are selling the same part. All I add to the post is SOLD!

back to p.1

stownsen914 04-26-2020 08:55 AM

We've got one guy with 7 on the first page as I write this. I think I've seen 18 before.

Racerbvd 04-26-2020 09:13 AM

Some long time members almost never post a price and pretty much never get called on.
Yet, when a newbie doesn't people come out of the woodwork to call them on it..

Stophos 04-26-2020 09:32 AM

Oliver I think he means you....

SmileWavy

Okay I admit I have managed to have 4, maybe five on the front page but thats because you guys aren't active enough at times to get my early ones to page two.. Get busy men or just post and buy my stuff!

Pedro '84 Coupe 05-15-2020 05:16 AM

There are 15 posts on the front page from one person. New record?

stownsen914 05-15-2020 05:20 AM

I've seen 18, but 15 is damned impressive. I wonder what they think when doing that.

boyt911sc 05-15-2020 07:35 AM

As of today.........

There is one guy at this moment with a dozen for sale ads @ page 1.

Yep that is me. My apologies. First time I have ever posted stuff for sale on a forum. Did not know there were rules on number of postings. Ignorance is no excuse. Wont do it again

Pedro '84 Coupe 05-31-2020 06:41 AM

More scofflaws today. Darn rule breakers!

nvr2mny 05-31-2020 07:59 AM

Pedro, could be, as IS the case with me (a scofflaw today - with 5) that I don’t remember all I have listed and once I go back through my started threads (sometimes weeks later) and seen what hasn’t sold, I bring “up to date”. With all the different people posting items for sale it doesn’t take long for the items to get pushed back to pages way beyond the first, usually within hours. It’s pretty easy to scan through the ads quickly and move on. I DO agree though with the sentiments on posters removing the prices on sold items.

al lkosmal 05-31-2020 10:21 AM

These are the types of threads you get, when people are stuck at home with too much time on their hands..........and can now focus on annoying minutia.

(I guess...like I just did)

Minutia I like that word. Thanks Rob.

Pedro '84 Coupe 04-14-2021 07:43 AM

Got a new name on the leaderboard. 12 posts on the first page. Minutia or not, rule breakers suck

NSJ-911 04-15-2021 09:42 AM

The rules obviously don't apply to johnkszabo!

70tangerine 04-15-2021 10:47 AM

This is a reply to comments up above.
Sale Price posts.
Now what if someone is asking $5,000 for something and it sells for $3000. the $5000 is so far off what the actual sale price was that it makes no sense that the next guy thinks his same type of part / item could be worth $5,000.
I do agree that if someone is selling a Taillight for $300. and it sells lower but down side is not thousands.
Do not get me wrong I agree it is a big help to see whats sold and what asking prices are.
Should the seller maybe put up the price the Item or items sold for ?

gtc 04-15-2021 11:04 AM

Yes, that would be helpful.
I don't understand why people feel the need to be so secretive about the sale prices... like it's some sort of privacy issue.

pmax 04-15-2021 11:09 AM

README explains the reason.

Asking prices tend to track pricing trends in any marketplace.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/149727-read-me-before-you-post-guidelines-posting-forum-updated-9-28-2017-a.html
- Use the search engine to compare pricing and availability of an item. None of the previous ads are deleted, so you have access to a vast group of listings that you can use to track pricing trends, and availability.

KTL 04-15-2021 11:14 AM

I understand your perspective on $5k vs $3k. But I tend to think that people selling something at that price typically have to lower the price a few times to eventually settle on selling it for $3k? Or to your point, maybe the initial asking price was way off base. Do we need to start posting the price at which the part sold? Probably not.

I’ve got some expensive stuff (a reconditioned crankshaft, some CP pistons and a WEVO clutch) I’ve been trying to sell and it seems this stuff just doesn’t interest many people anymore or the price point just takes time for the right people to come along? I dunno. I would think with the value of these cars skyrocketing, more people would be willing to throw down $1k and more to buy this stuff.

This one made me LOL. Well said Chris because I think the same thing! Virtual fist bump!

I’ve seen some people delete the entire description and pictures. So it leaves NOTHING to reference. Totally don’t understand why people do that.
