Cast Iron - Field Co

Bought some Field Co cast iron pans a week or so ago. Have since cooked bacon, eggs, hash browns, a giant cookie thing (my wife) and some other stuff. Totally impressed. Didn't put much effort at all into seasoning them as they come pre done. Not terribly cheap but truly excellent and worth the cost.

These are nice! I held one at a store and was really nice. Glass smooth.

I saw the price tag, put it down and backed away slowly.

Bought the 6/10 combo for about $225. I thought it was pretty darned reasonable honestly. Had been looking at Butter Pat which is based just an hour or two from me. Now THOSE are some crazy prices!

It's interesting, cast iron cookware from China NEVER stops rusting, Doesn't matter what you do to it. My French made Cousances two handled cast iron frypan has never had a drop of rust on it.

My daughter bought me one from Stargazer that I really like. Made in USA and very nicely finished and I like the two handle design.

Looks nice. They have a coppery color. Is that just the photography? My mom always cooked in cast iron.its a skill I’ve never mastered. Her pans were encrusted with burn grease on the outside and beautifully seasoned on the inside.

I had one. It was rusted when I pulled it out of a friends yard. A Dutch oven. I scrubbed it and seasoned it. I took it deer hunting. The lid was our skillet and it was a decent pot. I left it in the trailer I think. No, gave it to a fellow hunter. It was pretty normal as far as rust goes.

WD i'm not sure why but the larger pan is a bit coppery looking. harder to see as it gets used i think.

Found me a right nice Griswald Dutchie for $16 not too long ago.. right along with a 5qt lift type pre Whirlpool KA mixer for the same price. Talk about redundecy that was bouts da time i got me a real Hobart N50 for 3 bills de..livered. circa 1966 model..

Ya know the new fangled Hobarts are not the same as they once was..motors are made in China now.. even the Hobart people say that..those Merican made ones are inde..structible.

allow me to bring this back to the Field Cast products.

when i saw them at the store, i did notice that they are brown, when new. not black.

Stargazers. those the octagonal ones? the corners would drive me nuts. cornbread would be a cool shape tho.
